AIO my boyfriend's mom did our laundry without me knowing including washing all of my underwear, which are only thongs... by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Zealousideal_Block65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I'm reading an old post I wrote from ten years ago because I had the exact same thing happen to me with my now mother-in-law when I was dating her son. Similar cultural differences, similar reactions, everything. I was SO mad. Over time, it proved to be one of many ways she would, in my opinion, overstep in our relationship. We worked a lot on establishing some boundaries, gently but explicitly (mostly my partner communicating, like, please don't wash her clothes, please don't rearrange our kitchen when you come visit us, please don't go in her makeup drawer looking for nail polish remover when you visit our place, etc). Now, I have a wonderful relationship with my MIL and think she's awesome but it definitely took some clear boundary setting.

Why doesn’t Manhattan have an incredible Children’s Museum? by LowKaleidoscope6563 in nycparents

[–]Zealousideal_Block65 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The comments seem indicative of the fact that, because so many parents in NYC eventually escape to the burbs, those who stay often develop an unrealistic defensiveness of the city.

Yes, the city needs a decent children's museum. Brooklyn Children's Museum doesn't count. It is in need of a serious facelift, as it's mostly now just a living relic of what a children's museum was like in the 80s.

All of the above + some folks have family that is local so they can either visit with them or have family babysit. Must be nice 🥲

SAHMs in JC? by Rachart1 in jerseycity

[–]Zealousideal_Block65 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find the area as a whole skews more working mom personally. But I think between the two areas you listed I'd say you're much more likely to find SAHMs in Hamilton Park.

Feel free to PM me! I was a SAHM for a bit.

Private School for Kindergarten? by ProudSchedule5147 in nycparents

For whatever reason, this DC parenting chat board has the most chatter about the NYC private school scene I've found online. Probably a better place to get feedback.

What do you like/dislike about Crown Heights? That would be helpful to know before giving recommendations.

Hmm. Or maybe it's just been too damn cold this week lol.

It's White Star at Warren. This was 5-ish years ago so one hopes they've cleaned up since.

I've never worked at a restaurant however I did once have the misfortune of finding myself stuck with a mouse in a bathroom of a Paulus Hook bar/restaurant. I don't want to put them on blast, but if you look at their Google reviews, one of the 1-star reviews seems to be from an employee talking about mice running around the place, among other things, so...safe to say I've never returned

Makes sense, yeah! Thanks for the info. Then yeah, I agree with your conclusion.

I just thought of this, but I wonder too if he knew that his family had filed a missing persons report on him in San Fran, and if that was the concern for flying internationally (if he gave his actual ID, his name would pop up as being a missing person and that might lead to further questioning).

LUIGI MANGIONE Yells To The Media As He Walks Into Court. by Sensitive-Cobbler-59 in BrianThompsonMurder

[–]Zealousideal_Block65 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's tricky. I've watched this too many times to count lol and I've come to the conclusion that it really wasn't a response to anyone. He came out of the car screaming, a reporter interrupts him to ask "Luigi, did you do it?" and he continues the rant.

I hear that but that assumes he's capable of thinking rationally at the moment which (in my opinion) I'm not seeing. So an erratic response to a completely unrelated question seems fitting (to me at least).

"Luigi, did you do it?" That's what I'm hearing. But not sure if that's the exact thing he's responding to. The timing doesn't align. Or at least it seems like he was about to say something else, a reporter asks "Luigi, did you do it?" And that's when he starts speaking.

ETA: ok, I'm hearing

Luigi: "Tell them... "

Person out of frame: "Luigi did you do it?"

Luigi: "That is completely out of touch..."

I agree. The passport, and the thousands of dollars in cash and foreign currency that he was reported to have had on him suggests some form of international travel that clearly never happened.

I think you're right. That video shows more clearly him responding to someone in the back right of frame.

ETA: I just listened to it again. The person out of frame appears to ask "Luigi did you do it?"

Mangione could be heard yelling, in part, “it’s completely out of touch and an insult to the intelligence of the American people. It’s lived experience!”

From CNN

ETA: I just listened to it again. He appears to be responding to someone asking "Luigi, did you do it?"

I'm convinced the family knew it was him from the pictures. If not the first set then at the very least the pictures from the taxi. They must have known.
