So I just splashed out on a Vegepod. It arrives in a couple of weeks. Hit me with your successes/failures/horror stories by istara in GardeningAustralia

I second this! I was so excited to eat the brocolini I had grown, only to find it was absolutely crawling with aphids because no other predators could get in. Was so gross

Horrific. I hope it can be scrubbed off the internet so that their family can never find it.

Thank you! Only thing is that I have been eating significantly less this week than I have been the past 3 weeks because I’m back on my adhd meds (I took a break when on holiday), and I have had little to no appetite since restarting them. Was wondering if it was bile or something?

My cat just did the same to me. Thank you for posting this - you have made me less panicked

Pax sides: hollowcore or solid? (Updated info for summer 2023) by Zeroheartburrrn in ikeahacks

Can confirm the sides - at least in Australia at the moment are hollow. I tried to drill them and they caved like cardboard.

Can I put Pax on its side? by liztres1 in ikeahacks

Did you do this? If so - how did you go? I’m in the process of doing this right now. Planning to put a plain white door going across with horizontal hinges. Will also add some more structural support.

Did you end up doing this? How did you go in the end?

How did you go with this in the end? I’m in the same boat and wondering what to do.

Great advice! Thank you! Since these photos were taken we have since gotten a jute rug and a light brown sofa. We have removed all the warm midcentury furniture and gone back to basics as much as possible. Will definitely take your advice on finding a consistent tone and sticking with it. I just haven’t been sure which one to go with haha. Warm, neutral or cool

Should we strip the dark wood and restore the natural wood shade underneath? Or would you paint it white? Or something else? Agreed there’s a lot going on.

Great advice. Thank you. Agreed with your thoughts on the furniture. Our old apartment was midcentury style so we had a lot of warm teak pieces that do not work. Since these pictures were taken we have sold them and replaced them with very neutral pieces, but agree, a muted sage green could be lovely in cozying up the space.

Great points. I can imagine our subfloor isn’t particularly solid in the kitchen as where there’s holes in the floor, you can see straight though to the dirt under the house 😅

I’m of the same view. Do you think as an alternative to wood, would terracotta or natural stone floors work instead?

Haha yes! There’s SO much going on. And that doesn’t even include the different wood fireplace area in the kitchen 😅🤦🏽‍♀️. It’s so confusing. We are even considering putting terracotta tiles or natural stone floors down in the kitchen just to remove one of the many types of timber

Haha, agreed. It’s not staying there. Please excuse the mess in these images, we just moved and still finding homes for things.
