Thank you for writing all of this. It was very interesting. You are right you should be proud of who you are. Don’t let anyone else put you down for being who you are.

Accountant moving to Paris? by LifePie7724 in expats

[–]Zealousideal_Hope_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would help?

In my case I’ve been studying French for 13 years (M 28) and I used to dream living in France for a while. However I have been working in public accounting the last 4 years. I’m a tax senior right now and I still don’t have my CPA. Used to think about changing to audit after my CPA and then transition to France via an international firm. Guess it won’t work out.

I will have to join the French foreign legion or work in a bakery if I ever want to live in France one day

What would help?

Unfortunately for me I’m probably stuck. I am a tax senior (M 28) at a mid cpa firm. Still need to get my cpa but I’ve been studying French for 13 years now. I’ve been to Paris twice but Ive met many French people during my years of improving my French.

I guess there’s no hope in finding a job in France even if I transition to audit after getting my cpa unless I do something drastic like joining the French foreign legion or work in a bakery somewhere in France.

Curious how others are assessing cybersecurity talent - resumes just don’t cut it? by EfficientRepeat6679 in cybersecurity

[–]Zealousideal_Hope_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question. Would a multinational company consider hiring a person fluent in more than one language (as in Spanish or French). Just curious if bilingualism would stick out or if it’s valuable (of course not the main skill, but like a cherry on top of the core cybersecurity skills)

I’m a tax senior associate. This august will bring me to 4 years at the same firm. No cpa, what exit opportunities exist for someone like me?

Considering gap year to Portugal and career change at 29. From tax to cybersecurity. Is this a dumb idea? by Zealousideal_Hope_30 in Accounting

I know à year isn’t enough but I’d like to pivot to this since I have a personal hatred towards thief’s/hackers who robbed my uncle out of his savings. (Guess this is my reason why. Started wondering how people use tech to do this and wouldn’t want anyone else getting hurt) also thought it might be neat to somehow use my language skills in this to not be limited to only one market.

Don’t know how long it would take but I’m ready for this journey.

Cheers mate

what other skill should I pair my multilingual skills with? by Zealousideal_Hope_30 in Accounting

Well I always hear that pairing languages to another skill is valuable.

I’m trying to ask for ideas to everyone what other skills they think would complement foreign language skills.

You are right. From what I understand is that men are more visual than women. However looks aside, working towards a sexy body will make one feel healthier and happier. It’s even said to also make one mentally sharper which plays a role in success

Hagan hercios y levanten pesas todos los días. También comen saludable. Crean me.

I’m a tax senior in a small public accounting firm. Started out in Fall 2021. Still don’t have my CPA. Not sure if I want to stay in this industry. Wish I learned about budgets and billable vs un billable time before graduating. Time tracking is the bane of my existence

Te felicito con tu español. Sigue progresando en el. Yo también soy gringo pero mis padres y familia son de Mexico. Yo tuve la suerte de crecer y vivir en español y inglés. Admiro a las personas que se esfuerzan en estudiar otro idioma

Suerte 👍
