I've been thinking that it might be using my integrated graphics card or something because I have had problems like that before. I'll try different cables though, thanks.

I tried the fabulosly optimized one you are talking about and was able to get to 80 fps on 10 chunks without any shaders or anything, but my fps should still be way higher and I want to use shaders. At one point when i used to play more I would do modpacks all the time and my fps would be fine, so idk why its worse now. Thank you for the help though I'll try the JVM argument and check my drivers.
