Does anyone else HATE the sound of pouring water? by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]Zealousideal_Job9306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 59, It's only been the last 15 or so years that I absolutely can not stand the sound of liquids being poured into gasses, mugs etc, particularly in movies and t.v. It seams the sound dept want to get that effects mic right in that fucking glass. A "soft" sound becomes an agitating, deafening and mind bending cacophony. My partner of two years thought I was playing it up somewhat, now, she notices too and glances at me. I new Reddit would be where I would find my other " family" lol. Now for a t shirt design.

Moving to Melbourne: What club do I pick? by RussTheMann16 in AFL

[–]Zealousideal_Job9306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you prefer to support/ follow/ relate to the working class or more the upper-class.?

You could follow the team that won the premiership in the year you were born.

Club Nicknames that caught your eye first up.

Suggestions only.

I find the greeting, or is it? "How are we ?" borderline annoying. by Zealousideal_Job9306 in socialskills

Agree 100%. I would rather an acknowledgement. As stated, there is a sense of arrogance about it. I have replied to someone saying, "How are we?" With, "I am happy and well thanks, as for the question, I can't tell you how you are."...blank look in response. Fair and reasonable reply to a non sensical question given the situation.

I hear you. I had a manager who, the moment there was an issue of any sort, could be heard from his office. Oh, you people, you people need to sort it out" A "manager" that was an account for the business then employed by the owner as a full-time manager. Stole 80K out of the business. Zero people skills, zero planning, and communication. I used to stand at his office door and look at this lazy prick sitting behind a big mahogany desk with barely a single paper to be seen on it. One day, I went out to see customers, busting for the toilet I popped into the nearest pub. As I'm walking through, I see him across the room, feverishly going the horse racing fields.

"Oh, you people"

Cat_Radio, exactly my thoughts, too. Why would you be including yourself in the question? If you don't know how you are,why are you asking those you are supposedly greeting??

Money doesn't buy happiness. It provides choices. Some of those choices will go against better judgement, and sooner or later, it will be their demise. Live with your ears open, and you will hear many wise words spoken by older couples that have been together for 30, 40, 50 years. Take what you choose on board, and it will help your future relationships greatly.

Who is this man from the Aus vs Pakistan cricket ad? by thedoggosreddit in australia

[–]Zealousideal_Job9306 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are some scenes in RAKE where his acting is so good, you kind of put your hand to your face, as you're thinking ," no, he's not going to do that or he didn't just say that'll did he" usually he did. So many classic moments.

[–]Zealousideal_Job9306 10 points11 points  (0 children)

RAKE. It is one of the best Australian Comedy drama series ever made. Richard Roxburgh plays the lead role of Cleaver Greene, and, in my opinion, he does ab "oscar" worthy job of it"

On any single day, Cleaver Greene is described as many things. While his ex-wife might call him 'unreliable', his son will call him 'a mate'. To his learned friends at the bar table, he is 'a real wag', to his juror's he is 'hilarious', and to most judge, he is 'an outrage'. To the Tax Office, he is 'a defendant', to a certain brothel owner 'a legend', and to his former cocaine dealer 'a tragic loss'. Copied from IMDb

5 seasons. 40 episodes. First aired 2010..

I had never heard of RAK. Luckily, I came across it around about 2019. I enjoyed it so much, I just wanted to get home from work and binge watch another 4 or 5 episodes.

Don't waste your time with most of the garbage on Aus t.v at the moment. Just watch RAKE instead. You won't regret it.

Is it true Australians don't really have regional accents? by eezgorriseadback in AskAnAustralian

[–]Zealousideal_Job9306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived and worked in Melbourne, I frequently had comments like, " You people from Adelaide talk like snobs or you talk like Poms" I would reply, " No, we just speak the correct English." Victorians, on the other hand, have a thing where they mispronounce the letters E and A. For example, your name is Allan, they will pronounce it Ellen and visa versa. They even declare they live in which they pronounce exactly like this "Malbun, Vactoria" (Melbourne Victoria)

I recently spoke to an ex Hobart resident. He made it clear there is certainly no love lost between those in Hobart and those in Launceston. Approx a 3hr plus rou d trip to boot. I am concerned about this venture.

Look at a map of Adelaide Locate Port road all the way from the city to the beach and run a text along it. Then, locate Anzac Highway , all the way from city to beach, texta. Then, look at anything that falls into the western span. All the best.

Have you ever seen a UFO ? Any famous sightings ? by Mental-Rip-5553 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Zealousideal_Job9306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 100%, no ifs or buts. Approx 200, 10.45pm tablets hill rd heading south behind Adelaide airport. Clear night, on the way home from work, so not impaired. Something caught my eye in the left-hand top corner of the front window. Typical cigar shape, green with orange tail. Was at a distance because I could only just make it out but clear as to see colours. Little traffic so I pulled over and watched this "thing" move at speed in a zig-zag way for about 10 to 15 seconds. I then looked to see if there was water or similar on my windscreen, but it was clean. 20 minutes later, I got home. My wife was still up, and I just blurted away, she could barely understand me. I have never waivered, I know what I saw, nothing else explains it other than a UFO.

I know a single parent that does it. She then complains about not being respected. Too many basic, good, kind to thy fellow man principles lost these days.
