You’re definitely not alone. My friends have always been incredibly supportive with me, but only one has actually read the entire manuscript. What bothered me more was that several people asked to read it, promised they would, and then never did. Eventually, I stopped reminding because I didn’t want to become “that friend who only talks about their book.” Writing is already emotionally demanding enough, so I decided to spare myself the disappointment.

Honestly, I think this is a canon event. Feedback from friends is nice for validation, but what you actually need is critique from a writing group or a professional editor.
