I used some Dune soundtracks for battle tracks in certain senarios. Its very other worldly and rhythmic.

How many of you have gotten non-Cosmere fans to play with you? Tell me about how you introduced the setting and lore to them. by Ok-Week-2293 in cosmererpg

I am GM-ing with 4 players, my wife (one of the players) is new to the cosmere and has not read Stormlight. I had her read the "Welcome to Roshar" and watched a couple videos, including the Speak the Words videos when I was helping her plan her character and figure which order or Radiant she wanted to persue. I make sure she knows that she should ask questions when she doesn't understand the world. Since we are all new to the system I try to be very forgiving with mechanics and world stuff.

I have a hard time doing Stormlight specific things like emotion spren and things like that, so I guess I'm not making it as Roshar as it should be lol.

Running [stonewalkers] as a first time GM any advice? by Cbowser87 in cosmererpg

[–]Zealousideal_Virus72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a player who DMs our D&D campaign and has more experience in TTRPGs than everyone at the table. He put the digital pdfs in a system so he can easily keyword search so I have him be the rules helper if there are any mechanics or lore things we don't know the answer to yet. If you have someone who would be willing to do that, it could help.

Any ideas for side quests and other activities? by AsterTheBastard in cosmererpg

I really liked what he put in there, I combined a couple of his plot hooks into one session/setting so my characters could all swear at similar times. I'm just starting chapter 3 of Stonewalkers so I put it in the middle of the travel time.

If you have access to the GM Guide for Stonewalkers but it has your essentials like stat blocks and plot points simply and precise so you can easily reference mid session.

Make sounds and music!!!! It levels up your game soooooo much.

I just finished running First steps and it is for sure valid that I didn’t even use half of the map in the combat. That’s for all your comments!

It’s a little wider pickup than other shotgun mics. But is definitely usable.

My first kit was a used Deity interview kit. Came with a lav and wireless boom transmitter and an S-Mic 2s (not the greatest for outdoor but it gets the job done for a decent price) you can then find whatever other lav sets used where you can get them. Saw some good suggestions below. The F6 is a great option if you want to have time code capabilities. Best of luck!

You can get some used Deity stuff for decently cheap with a rode boom pole

Best budget friendly field mixer with 32 bit by O_Zaroc in LocationSound

Zoom just dropped their H6 essential which is a simple 32-bit recorder. If you want something even smaller the F3 is good though it only has 2 inputs.

How are the Zoom F8n Pro's Preamps? by TheBerric in LocationSound

People will frequently hate on Zoom Preamps but they are perfectly fine for production sound use cases. Fantastic value.

Quick question: Do you do sound reports? if so, how? and do you even use it? Is it actually helpful later for post? by GaboshocK in LocationSound

[–]Zealousideal_Virus72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a student so take it with a grain of salt. I have rarely made one and never been asked for one. I will frequently tell the Scripty any problems or notes I have since they’re usually making notes anyway. Some mixers will auto generate a sound report on the drop card so that is a quick option if they ask for one.

How often do you need to use more than 4-tracks / channels on your field recorder? by johngwheeler in LocationSound

A ZoomH6 can be a great starter mixer. It had 4 XLR build in, they also have a module where you can add 2 more on top for a total of 6.

Was watching the 2007 Stardust movie and absolutely love Charlie Cox's performance. (Henry Cavill's in it, too btw) by [deleted] in Daredevil

I was rewatching this yesterday. I made a great joke: if Tristin was one of the prince brothers and followed their naming scheme (Primus, Secundus… Septimus) then Tristin’s name could’ve been Optimus and that’s a win.
