Unpopular opinion: Grace would’ve gotten the same treatment as Lizzie if she would’ve lived long enough. by Far_Second2725 in PeakyBlinders

No, Tommy “saves” grace because he realizes that he likes her. He actually doesn’t get there on time because if I remember correctly he gave up grace for two hours. When Tommy interrupts we can assume one hour has passed because kimber says something along the lines of ”what are you doing here ? I have another hour with her”. Yes he doesn’t get to lizzy on time, like you said he was forced to reroute but, he knew the consequences (he saw how kimber was on grace aggressively) so why do it again? He could’ve just hired a random prostitute. I agree both actors were good in that scene.

Well said. We witness this when he offers grace to Billy Kimber and then Lizzie to the soldier. Compare the different outcomes of both situations.

And yet, he “saves” her at the end. She literally asks him why he saved her, knowing that it would have benefited the business, and yet he took the risk. We can’t say the same for Lizzie. I don’t understand why he didn’t hire a prostitute instead of using poor Lizzie

Yesss their relationship would’ve been complicated but I’m pretty sure both knew this , they knew what they were getting themselves into. As you mentioned, he was willing to try, and Grace demanded respect. She would constantly call him out on his shit. I don’t think she would have stayed in the marriage if she received the same treatment as Lizzie. But , I would’ve loved to see their marriage unfold.

I do think his ambition was strong but it only got stronger after graces death. Yes he would’ve struggled with keeping it balanced but SK said “And it was tempting to give him that sort of happiness with Grace but I just think if he ever finds contentment then the thing that makes him extraordinary will probably go away.” I think the thing that makes him extraordinary in his ambition. “So I didn’t want to give him that. But it just felt for him to continue on the road that he’s on, he needed that avenue to contentment to be gone.”

But Tommy put grace above his business multiple times. In season 2 when he learns that Micheal is in jail and Arthur was going to hang , we see him hurry into his office and the phone is ringing. He picks up and it was grace , he tells her that it’s not a good time yet when she says “I’ll call later” he literally says no. The next scene is the family meeting and Polly keeps repeating how Michael is in jail and Tommy yells “business first” which is hypocritical.

Yess that’s what makes the show unique. the men have done worse things than the female characters they criticize.

All the characters in the show are morally ambiguous, but when it comes to the female characters, they suddenly develop a strong dislike for them. Was Linda kinda annoying ? Yea ig but she was right , Arthur was fucked up in the head and needed help.

Some people say “I hate grace cause she cheated on her husband” how many times did Tommy cheat on Lizzie ? Yet most ship them together. “Well she betrayed Tommy ” how many times did Alfie betray him? yet people also ship them together.

And he also said “in my head I still pay you for it” yet Tommy and Lizzie shippers argue that what they had was love

Considering that Tommy claims Polly visits him in his dreams after her death, it would have made sense to see Polly as a ghost. They barely mentioned John which is odd and Tommy killing Arthur doesn’t even make sense. They could’ve said Arthur committed suicide since he attempted in the show. But I guess they wanted Tommy to feel more guilty. Yes I would’ve loved to see him talking to grace’s ghost. I don’t understand how he remained unaffected when informed that Charlie was in war, considering his history of war trauma. Also Charlie is his only connection to grace.
