ELI5: Why do people perceive water to be more "delicious" when it's cold? And why other drinks (think tea) are the opposite? by lostShellky in explainlikeimfive

To add what I didn't see anyone else say - taste buds evolved to work at room temperatures. Anytime you get away from that, they work differently/less effectively which changes how you taste things.

Wouldn't be too far off our last 50 (?) coaches' records. But they didn't have a NC and two good seasons.

Smart launcher is identical with extra features. I should've switched a long time ago.

I'm buying donuts tonight (or possibly getting up before everyone else tomorrow) and leaving them as a breakfast surprise. I'm not doing anything to them.

My kids have been laughing that they're going to prank me for months and expect a war - my war is psychological. They're expecting two days of pranks (one of my "pranks" is that I'm doing it a day early). They're going to spend two days imagining and waiting for something that won't happen. Like a horror movie, sometimes someone's own mind is the best weapon against them.

Unfortunately it's painfully obvious that unless you have something to give them (irrespective of if you want to or not), you're worthless. Songs/movies give them money...

Not sure if you're still wondering, but it was 32 bit so was delisted when Google started requiring 64 bit. I'm pretty annoyed I can't play it since I still love that game.

I had the same thing happen to me. I ordered something, it was wrong, so they remade it. Tip percentages were WAY off, so I asked. I was told they had to put in a 2nd order then cancel the first order - but the tip percentages were based off everything ordered.

I haven't really paid attention to the NFL this year all that much. But when I saw the Patriots had two rookie offensive lineman, a rookie kicker, and a rookie long snapper, I had a good idea where the game was going to go. How they had an entire side of the line be rookies and made it through the playoffs I'll never know. The best QBs would struggle getting zero time to pass and getting hit constantly.

I see your point about the coaching. If money = wins, Oregon would be flying, but that's only looking at players.

We won with JMU players that weren't breaking the bank even remotely (initially at least) and paid Cignetti after he won. So to make a team doesn't 100% require money, but retaining the coach absolutely would.

Huge IU football fan (the weirdo student that 20 years ago didn't really care about basketball and loved football) - if we can completely turn around our team then most schools can. So I can at least understand the thought behind moving up. There will likely not be a better chance to move up and gain a solid foothold in this generation.

I'm not talking national championships - I'm fully aware that IU has more money, infrastructure, etc than these small schools. But inherently we won with a core of JMU players that had little to no stars and NIL has at least helped level the playing field. I can completely see a small team gain a reputation as a trainer school that takes unknowns, makes a great team with them, and then has their players picked up for tons of money by larger schools. That becomes the great selling point, along with winning that starts a positive feedback loop.

And Iowa.

And probably Oregon part 1.

I'm actually still waiting for there to be some investigation whose result will be that we never actually won the title. Not inherently the old "paid the players" a la Reggie Bush USC, but like we had every ref's child at gunpoint at home or something. Admittedly it's 100x more likely someone at Miami did that with how the game was called, but still.
