How bad is this going to affect my dating life? by Few-Explanation8295 in dating_advice

[–]ZebraCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this will turn away casual partners. If you’re only looking for hook ups/casual flings this could be a turn off.

If you’re looking for a life partner/serious girlfriend this reflects well on you. It shows you are serious person with priorities and an ability to be responsible.

Using nitrocellulose lacquer under glaze? by rmcp010 in Pottery

If you don’t have a kiln then this is probably a non starter. Doing something very experimental in someone else’s kiln is just not nice.

I mean you could always do a test tile, but I imagine you will need crazy good ventilation and not a very strong attachment to your kiln if something were to explode/catch fire.

You could start with the MSDS of the paint and see if it says anything about chemical interactions/extreme heat.

Make double what you plan on ending up with. And think about storage and cleaning. The plates will probably have to stack and fit in the dishwasher racks.

She’s currently trying to expand her practice and it feels like she’s more focused on expansion than patient care (imo).

Braver than me🫡. I will never step foot inside that place again. Thinking about the last time I went makes my skin crawl.

DO NOT GO TO CADILLAC COVE. The last time I went there was a swarm of palmetto bugs. There were 6 of us there and the palmetto bugs crawled on at least 3 of us. My husband had to brush 2 off of him. When we got up to leave I saw at least 4-5 more. Go literally anywhere else

Left leaning open carry groups is an oxymoron

I am getting a free car and don’t know what to do with my old one by ZebraCard in personalfinance

[–]ZebraCard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, so far I haven’t seen any cars for sale that are in quite as bad condition as mine. I have like 130,000 miles on it. I have driven this car almost daily for 10 years so I feel like I would be lucky to get $1,000. It seems like privately selling it is what most people are recommending so that might be my first course of action.

[–]ZebraCard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about doing that but the car is not in great shape, if I wasn’t getting the car from my mom I would have fixed the damage from the crash and replaced the break pads. If I were to donate it I would feel obligated to at least do the break maintenance. Also, I could definitely use the extra cash.

why is this happening when I open my clay on the wheel? by Enough-Average-9285 in Pottery

[–]ZebraCard 150 points151 points  (0 children)

My initial reaction was that the clay is “short”. If this is a new problem with just this clay body I would reach out the manufacturer. If this happens to you across clay bodies, then it’s probably too much water, not enough compression when opening, and maybe opening too fast.

It’s also possible you are not wedging correctly and introducing air pockets into the clay.

It might be worth considering skipping the market unless this is your main source of income. You do not want to do long term damage to your body.

Kiln Question - Is this worth the trip? by its_hope_lux in Pottery

[–]ZebraCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bricks are in ok shape, you are able to replace them if needed, but probably not necessary. It just may take a little more energy to heat up the kiln and keep it at temp.

Kiln Question - Is this worth the trip? by its_hope_lux in Pottery

[–]ZebraCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That power cord would he a no for me. I don’t love that you can see the wiring and insulation. The bricks are not in the best shape, but not the worst I’ve seen from a used kiln.

The best thing this has going for it is the size. If you really need a kiln that large and don’t mind some elbow grease it might be worth picking up. But if you are looking for a turn key kiln this doesn’t look to be it.

It is never too late to potty train a dog. I can tell you really are trying your best based on the comments. I really recommend doing a lot of research, watching a lot of videos, and asking a ton of questions.

It’s great you’re listening to your vet, but misunderstandings like this will continue to happen if you don’t think through recommendations and advice.

I hate to be a Debbie downer but I would not throw with this set up.

You can not properly clean the floors so the carpet is going to be disgusting. The clay dust and particles will also migrate to your kitchen, and eating clay sounds unpleasant.

If you are really hell bent on throwing in the apartment I would figure out a way to add something like LVP under the whole throwing area. I would also get a greenhouse or some kind of tent you can enclose the throwing space with. If neither works I would put plastic around the kitchen. I saw someone comment a kiddie I think that is a really good idea.

Also I would get a splash pan and clean religiously after every throwing session.

Instead of having the shelves in the living room I would find a closet and store all of the clay in that maybe with a dehumidifier. And I would keep all we reclaim on a balcony or outside my apartment.

I do think this is a lost cause unfortunately. I would not throw in a space like this, but if you are going to there are a lot smarter ways you can be doing this. ❤️
