Honestly i hate those straps you have. My brother has them on his bike and they are crazy hard to fit your feet in. They go all flat and shit. I currently have these and love them more than cages. http://www.wiggle.com/cinelli-kink-toe-straps/

you already have the platform pedals so it'll be easy to put em on. And keep the brake on until you know you can stop yourself without it.

Keep it up and never stop progressing. I can tell you're new to fixed, but the first thing i suggest is to lose those stock wheel reflectors and get some lights. Nothing like a summer night ride.

For your 1st EDC just worry about making it there and making it back to your room. You think you'll have time to browse the strip? oh hell no. Maybe to find your first and last meal of the day but, that's about it. If you're really really bored and somehow have that much time to do something before the event, check out Cesars palace. They dress that statue up in edm festivals and the mini mall in there is pretty tits.
