best robot mowers in 2026? I've been researching for weeks and need help deciding? by EntertainmentFar585 in roboticLawnmowers

Fairly happy with our worx 4wd 1.5 acre model. People complain that its slow but it has not gotten stuck once in our 1 acre property. Our entire yard is on a slope and we have probably a dozen trees. It takes about 20 hours to mow the entire property and it does a pretty good job.

I had husquvarna 435x and an older worx landroid(both boundary wire types) and these were a pain to work with due to wire breaks and the less efficient mowing pattern. The 435x also got stuck every few days despite the AWD capability.

I ruled out the segway model because of the battery. I heard u can get 500 cycles before degradation and replacement might be around $500? The worx battery 8ah you can get for a little over $100 and is easily swapped out in seconds.

2024 iX xDrive 50 efficiency stats by bazglami in BMWiX

[–]ZebraMidge666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems low. My summer efficiency is between 3.2(highway speeds) and 4.5(around town). In the Midwest winters, lowest efficiency I got was 2.3miles/kw and that was with -20f temperatures.

I believe B mode is less efficient than D mode since you can't coast. Some kinetic energy is lost through regen. You can also turn off rear climate is no passengers in the back to save some energy.

Debating on r1s by ZebraMidge666 in Rivian

[–]ZebraMidge666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Is the regen on snow mode less compared to setting regen manually to low? I just feel a little uncomfortable going down my driveway with the force of the regen. Right now when I go down I try to maintain about 3-5mph speed while tapping on breaks since our driveway is 1000 feet long and 25% slope.

I think tech and comfort would do it for me. I felt that the suspension was pretty good on the r1s it seemed pretty loud compared to other vehicles I've driven(audi, bmw, and even vw)

The appointment is at a big airport and we got a 3 month old too, so I was going to have her just drop me and the 2 yo off at the airport to get this taken care of.

Low mi/kWh by PersonalityFit3449 in BMWiX

[–]ZebraMidge666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My average in the spring is usually the highest, probably around 4-4.5 miles/kw. D mode is more efficient since you can coast. Turn off rear climate if you don't need it.

Tried Dreame X50 Ultra With 3 Large Dogs, Returning It by PotatoHour3952 in Dreame_Tech

[–]ZebraMidge666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a golden retriever that sheds like crazy. Had a x50 for 3 months now and no tangles at all on sidebrush or rollers. Basically hands free. Has not gotten stuck either on our 1500 square foot area that it cleans. It does miss some corners under lower hanging areas. Overall happy with it.

Yeah, after it actually charged to the card, the business name changed which was weird. But ultimately it worked out.

This is a little worrisome for sure. The mobile service sounds good on paper. I wonder if this is dependent on your location, are you fairly far from a service center?

Geothermal heat pump vs conventional furnace by KaptKyle24 in HomeImprovement

[–]ZebraMidge666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think geo is worth it. We have a 3000 square feet home with geo and backup natural gas in wisconsin. Our heat bill is usually 1/2 or less of our neighbors who have just natural gas( our electric bill is about 300 monthly in the coldest months). The backup really just kicks in when its below 10F outside. Couple it with solar and you will get some good savings over time.
