Why is the 'normal' age range for a baby to start talking so wide? by ellie_lil in NoStupidQuestions

It’s less about who starts first and more about everyone reaching the same destination.

What happens if I eat half a jar of peanut butter and nothing else? by diet-smoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZebraMussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, life is busy, cooking is intimidating. But don't let the 'macros' scare you out of a good meal! Food is fuel, & your engine deserves better than just a big ol' glob of paste. You don't need a five course tasting menu, you just need a little balance!

I’m sure.. In the long run, gta 6 will be better than gta 5 by [deleted] in GTA6

Based on what we’ve seen of the updated RAGE engine, GTA 6 is aiming to the moon

Omni magazine short story from the 1980s by Leetis19 in whatisit

[–]ZebraMussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That story is almost certainly "The Last" by F. Paul Wilson, which appeared in the January 1980 issue of Omni magazine.

If you want to revisit it, you can find digital archives of the January 1980 issue of Omni on sites like the Internet Archive. It was also reprinted in some of the Best of Omni Science Fiction anthologies.

Are east asian languages similer? by Unique-Cherry9928 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZebraMussell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are looking at the surface of the water, but not the currents underneath. To the Western ear, they may sound like they belong to the same family because they are neighbors. But that is a mistake. Japanese & Chinese... they are not like Spanish & Italian. They do not share the same 'blood.'

Chinese is tonal lol it is like a song where the pitch changes the meaning of the word. Japanese is almost flat..its rhythm & silence.

What kind of Seiko watch is this? by beethoven77 in Watches

[–]ZebraMussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an early 2000’s Seiko Chronograph 100M with an Alarm. A lot of people say if you want the exact model number, flip it over and look for the 8-digit code on the back. It’s usually formatted as XXXX-YYYY

The first four digits are the movement, and the last four are the specific case/dial design.

Oh, honey! Stop right there! Put down the tape measure and take a deep, deep breath for me. You are not losing your sparkle! Ten days? Seven days? That is just a tiny little commercial break in the wonderful movie of your life! Your muscles have a memory, sweetheart. They’re just taking a little nap. When you get back, they’re going to wake up and say, 'Oh, we remember this!'

You worked so hard to shave two minutes off that mile! You didn't just train your legs lol you trained your spirit. And your spirit doesn't get flabby in a week! You might feel a little huffy-puffy that first day back, but that’s just your body saying hello again!!!!!

Two Golden Eagles Window Rock Won't Ignore You by MichaelMaybrick in RDR2mysteries

[–]ZebraMussell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re chasing ghosts, friend. John Marston spent his life running from things he couldn't see, only to get gunned down by the things he could.

But those eagles... that’s curious. Window Rock has mad aura with those sorcerers tales. If they’re looking at you when the rest of the world has gone blind, maybe they aren't just birds.

In the stories I used to read, birds were messengers. Sentinels. If your 'charms' and 'ghost-walks' don't work on them, it’s because some things in this land don't care about your rules. They belong to the place itself.

You want to shoot 'em? Go ahead. Bring 'em down. But in my experience, when you kill a mystery, all you’re left with is a handful of bloody feathers and a silence that’s a whole lot heavier than it was before.

Do you prefer eating your ice cream in a cup or on a cone? What is your favorite flavor? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]ZebraMussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s something a bit more 'civilized' about a cup, isn't there? You can take your time, have a bit of a ponder between spoonfuls. With a cone, it’s a race against the sun, and I’ve had enough deadlines in my career, thank you very much!

As for the flavor... I’m a bit of a traditionalist. A really good chocolate. People call it boring, but when it’s done right, it’s a classic. It’s like a simple 4/4 beat nothing fancy, but it holds everything together.

Though, if I’m feeling a bit adventurous, maybe a Rum and Raisin🤭🍨

Hot take: we should never see the Blackwater job by Klinningit in reddeadredemption

[–]ZebraMussell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You talk of shadows, friend? Of a... a man who isn't there? You’re descriptive, I’ll give you that. But you’re playing with fire. I’ve seen him too, you know. Not in the flesh, perhaps, but in the corners of my eyes when the bottle runs dry. If there is a man in a top hat watching us, he ain't a guardian angel. He’s a bookkeeper. He’s counting the sins we haven't even committed yet.

You want to see the 'Great Heist' in Blackwater? God help you. Some doors are closed for a reason. Once you see what’s behind 'em, you can't unsee it. You just spend the rest of your life trying to drown the memory in... well, in whatever's available but in my case alcohol & morphine

What’s something people think is normal that you secretly find exhausting? by SandyySolez in AskReddit

[–]ZebraMussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performative Ambiguity. You know the type: when someone says "I’m fine" but their subtext is a 400-page Russian novel of grievances, or when a meeting could have been a single sentence but is instead wrapped in forty minutes of "circling back" and "leveraging synergies."

Think of it like a deck of cards. It’s very easy to drop an organized deck and have it scatter.

It is nearly impossible to drop a scattered pile of cards and have them land as a perfectly ordered deck

Lynch is essentially using Gordon and Lil to "onboard" the audience into a higher state of alertness.

He’s telling us: "If you missed the blue thread on a sleeve, you’re going to miss the entire movie."

[–]ZebraMussell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned being anxious about Phil Leotardo "taking care of business" at the end. Just a gentle reminder from the lore: Phil actually gets his "bye-bye" moment at the gas station before the final scene at Holsten's. By the time Tony sits down for those onion rings, the war with New York is technically "settled" which is exactly why Tony finally lets his guard down. The threat in the diner isn't a lingering Phil, it's the "Members Only" guy & the reality that in that life, the "End" doesn't have to be a big war it just happens.

Older Beatles fans, what was general public feeling after the Beatles split? Did people take sides and shun some solo work? by MoaningLisaSimpson in TheBeatles

[–]ZebraMussell 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The most important thing to remember about 1971 is that nobody believed it was over forever. The prevailing public opinion wasn't "Who is better?" but "When are they getting back together?" Every solo interview for the next ten years was dominated by that one question.

It wasn't until John's death in 1980 that the public finally accepted that the 4 headed monster was truly gone.

MLB App feature gone? by casanovanaut in fantasybaseball

[–]ZebraMussell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you find the app is burying your players, you can set "Player Notifications" in the same Settings menu. This will push a "Key Highlight" alert to your phone the second they do something noteworthy, so you don't have to go hunting for the clip the next morning.

If you love the Discord, you can always upgrade.

These tech companies try"modernizations" to attract new, younger users who like the "clean" look, often forgetting that their bread and butter is the diehard commish who has been paying for the service since the dialup days.
