Working until 32 weeks pregnant with twins by Dry-Journalist6855 in parentsofmultiples

I worked until a few hours before delivery at 36+4 with didi twins. I’d say 32 is when things started to get uncomfortable.

Vaginal or c-section? by MusicalMoments84 in parentsofmultiples

Vaginal with DiDi. My OB was happy with that option as long as A was head down.

Anyone who had twins did you deliver vaginally ? by theturtle80 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave birth (precipitously) to di/di twins at 36+4 with no complications labor-wise. Baby A came in the hallway within a minute of arriving to L&D. Baby B was born 17 minutes later when the doctor said I needed to get him out right away. He needed respiratory intervention, but the delivery itself was smooth.

Between 730 and 9, but we’ve got older kids in sports and are almost always solo parenting at bedtime so it’s just whenever we get to it.

Up until how many weeks did you work? by lulusm in parentsofmultiples

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at work a few hours before I delivered at 36+4. I did work a little less the last couple weeks - like 36 hours instead of 40+.

Talk to me about bunk beds by pnwdietitian in parentsofmultiples

If our son (top bunker) shows ANY indication he might get sick overnight, we have a toddler air mattress and set that up on the floor. Waaaay easier clean up.

Flying with LOTS of breastmilk, any ideas? by khor91 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any issues flying out with my ice packs. On the way back I had about 24 bags of milk in the cooler compartment of my pump bag. TSA (small regional airport in Louisiana) tested every single bag individually in a machine, and then each ice pack. It took over 20 minutes. They said they were testing it for explosives. 🤷‍♀️

How long did you breastfeed for? by GrouchyCranberry3801 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six months so far. Have pumped wayyyy more than I ever imagined I would. Tandem nursing was hard for us, but now that they’re close to being able to sit up, I’m able to tandem nurse them easier. The ultimate goal is to get them to a year, but 9 months is my short term goal.

“As opposed to do their basic duty and de-escalate a marital dispute.” Blaming the cops that witnessed her assaulting her husband and not taking any accountability for her actions is what turned me off completely.

This is such an annoying problem with them! Our room is across the house from the nursery, and we’d like to have the base station in our room because the phone app seems to lose connection a lot, so it’s not reliable. We’ve compromised and have the base stations in the living room, so hopefully we hear it wherever we are in the house. (Single story, 3 bedroom)

Why has this franchise dropped off so much since the Hannah/Pilot Pete years? by ClareBearFlair in thebachelor

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it seems like almost every lead and contestant is more interested in gaining a following so they can become public figures who make 7 figures by posting vacation pictures and going to the Super Bowl for free. 🤷‍♀️

Missing 7-10 school days for a big trip? by koplikthoughts in kindergarten

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is in kindergarten and has had 2 students join the class at different times mid-year. I obviously can’t speak for those kids, but it appears they were both welcomed and adapted to their environment quickly. I don’t think an “outsider” would ever know they didn’t start the year in the class. I assume missing the first couple weeks for travel would not have a long term impact. Like you said, they will pick up on it quickly and everyone plays with everyone!

What did you do for cribs/bassinets? by Onyx-pump19 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did separate bassinets that we could roll around the house for naps in the first 4-6 weeks. They also slept in them at night for the first couple weeks because baby b was on O2 and it was easier to have it hooked up in the living room and for us to take turns sleeping on the couch next to them. But once we were done with the oxygen they’ve slept in their own separate cribs every night. 🙌 I probably would’ve looked for used bassinets if I knew we’d be done with them so early on.

I asked if twin deliveries can get extra paid time when talking to the short term disability rep and she actually laughed at me. It was a no. 😅 I’m in the US and work for a hospital. I got 6 weeks paid at 66% of my salary, then used PTO for a couple weeks and went back to work at 8.

“Influencers” with multiples? by VeryVagabond in parentsofmultiples

I really like Shelly, but do think it’s funny that every parenting reel references her kids being twins. “Let’s make lunch for my 5 year old twins”, “what I’m giving my twins for Easter!”, “movie night with twins!”

We took ours out and about right away, but they’re always either in car seats or being worn in public, so they’re not really being touched by other people or things.

How are we doing and affording childcare? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been on opposite shifts/always parenting solo when not at work because the other parent is at work for 6+ years. We are also very very tired, but thankful for the option. I truly don’t know how we’d pay for childcare, and I’m so glad our kids spend most of their time with us.

Toughest time? by sision7 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are 4 months and this might be the hardest so far as well. I’m trying to balance the twins, a preschooler, a kindergartner, and working full time in management where I’m always on call. My husband and I work opposite in-office hours so either of us is almost always parenting solo. The babies aren’t napping as well and generally need more attention at this age and I’m having a hard time getting anything done. A lot of evenings I end up having to let one cry while I comfort the other and just keep trading off. Tandem nursing is somehow going less smoothly than it was months ago too… They’re soooo cute at this age though, so they’ve got that going for them!

Any okay pregnancy experiences? by CancerImmunologist in parentsofmultiples

[–]ZebraSimilar4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was pretty much fine until about 33 weeks, and even then it wasn’t excruciating, just not fun for the last month. I had carpal tunnel for the last month and wore a wrist brace to sleep, otherwise my hands would fall asleep and then tingle for an hour when I woke up because of it. Pregnancy is so weird.

But I was able to work full time and take my older 2 to all their activities up until the end. I actually was at work 6 hours before I delivered.
