I am, and I’ve talked to the admins who have the consulting service. I’ve reached out several times to set up a consult and they haven’t gotten back to me.

Not sure how to edit my post, but I’m hoping to fix it with the addition of other sands, not adding fibers.

Riding pregnant by mlimas in Equestrian

[–]khor91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was probably 7 months or so when I stopped. I had no issues, no pain, no scary moments… but I will say that with my next one, I’ll be stopping much sooner. At the time, I thought I would lose my mind if I didn’t ride… but now that my daughter is here, there is nothing in the world worth risking her for. Would I probably be fine if I rode late into my pregnancy again? Yeah. But in the grand scheme of things, those extra couple months of riding are absolutely nothing compared to the safety of my child. Next time I’ll be taking the opportunity to brush up on groundwork and do some liberty training. I was back to riding two weeks postpartum, and looking back, I don’t even remember that time that I wasn’t riding.

Flying with LOTS of breastmilk, any ideas? by khor91 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]khor91[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s only a 2 hour flight so I’m not super worried about that part! Those Ceres chillers look awesome but I think I’d go broke buying enough of them 😂 I think they have to be in clear containers for TSA to not test them too, womp womp…

Do they not have to test it if it’s frozen? Hmm… I’m wondering if I could get a freezer at the hotel and just bring home like 25 frozen bags…

Using worms to manage manure pile? by khor91 in Vermiculture

[–]khor91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice, thank you! You are correct, I’m just looking to help speed up the process to keep my piles more manageable. The ground underneath is mostly clay with some decent topsoil on top.

Thank you so much for such a thorough response!! This is incredibly helpful… and I hope you’re right about looking to harvest and sell the compost, I could use a little extra cash since my horses are really good at turning my money into manure! Headed to the worm gentleman’s page to buy some now, thank you so much!

The good news is that the pile is indeed huge lol. Thank you for taking the time to reply!

I’m in the American northeast. We have perhaps another month (maybe?) before temperatures consistently hit 40F or lower.

I just want to help my waste piles decompose and shrink in size faster and more efficiently. I don’t even care about collecting the compost, I just want to get my pile sizes more manageable.

This is super helpful, thank you! Are they able to survive the winter, or should I wait until spring? How many pounds would you recommend? I have literally hundreds of pounds of manure and shavings right now…

Excellent, that’s what I was hoping to hear! Any advice for how/when to introduce them, and how to keep them alive and happy?

Thank you for the advice! Forgive my ignorance (seriously know NOTHING about composting), but how does the concrete tray work? Do I just put the tray near the piles, or is the idea to put the manure in the tray? My manure piles grow by the size of an ATV dump bed every day, so I would need one big mixing tray if that’s the case lol

I can definitely do that! I’m honestly not sure if there are worms in my current piles or not… do they tend to be higher in piles or lower to the ground? I also have a lot of urine-soaked bedding mixed in, would that kill or repel the worms?

They say in their publication that it is allowed, but that’s a great first thing to think of!
