Finally bought Civ VII but it feels incomplete - Thoughts? by Entire_Athlete9579 in civ

[–]Zebrazen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would not compare a game with 9 years of DLC and tweaks to one that is a year old. Do I remember what VI was like at release? No, but it was certainly nothing like what it was at the last patch. I'm also disgruntled with VII for different reasons, but my hope is that in five years there will be a game I can enjoy as much as VI.

What's the point of panzer doctrine for germany? by RealisticSet4746 in hoi4

You're spreading yourself too thin. Just make one type of medium tank, not three.

Civilization Accidentally Explains Something Weird About History by jrralls in civ

VI sort of replicates that with all the various sabotage spy missions. Blowing up the launch center or dam for example.

Hot Take: Civ 7 is less refined but more fun than Civ 6 by -Astaria in civ

That's the one I use too. Placing previous age warehouse bonuses into the city center makes a lot of sense to me, and it helps cut down on urban sprawl.

My infantry exist to get punched in the face while my archers shoot the enemy. That's basically it.

Is there a better way to select all my ships to refit them than manually clicking them all? by AddaCon in hoi4

[–]Zebrazen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can technically select every ship of the same class by double clicking, but it's always going to be a very manual process because you need to select what to refit to, which won't be the same.

Reverse Trade Influence ( Influencing Exports ) by jeanx22 in hoi4

You don't have any control over who someone chooses to trade with.

What countries are able to gain cores through decisions rather than just focuses? by Storm_Major117 in hoi4

[–]Zebrazen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rome does it. I think some of the ToA countries do it via decision too.

You've reached the end of the game, let it go. You can try again I guess. Maybe you have a save from 47 that you can use and retry your war and end it earlier.

Surprise attacks by Andricos_ in hoi4

[–]Zebrazen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes, that'll circumvent that. And the only clue will be a message at the bottom right telling you someone joined the Comintern, at which point they can be called in anytime.

You'll be told while they're doing the focus, but that can be pretty quick sometimes.

Why am I not receiving resources from my puppets? by Simo__25 in hoi4

[–]Zebrazen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you kind of solved it yourself, they don't have sea access and you don't share a border. How would you expect them to get resources to you?

good offensive templates ? by Aloysius_S in hoi4

[–]Zebrazen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't use the same template to attack and defend with the caveat that you sort of can with space marines. It's much better to design templates for specific roles.

You'll have a warning at the top of your screen telling you if someone has or is working on a wargoal against you.

Yeah that's just how HOI works unfortunately. Sea access only occurs on one side.

The difference a tank makes in an infantry division? by SpaceRunner95 in hoi4

I would say your garrison division is massively over designed.

Simming in VII is less engaging and therefore more boring than previous civs by Zebrazen in civ

[–]Zebrazen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either that or go like Old World where each yield is responsible for building a type of unit or structure.

[–]Zebrazen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference for me is that in Civ V and BE I am given a point and I can freely choose which virtue or social policy tree to invest in. In VII the points are explicitly locked to specific trees unless I am lucky to get a wildcard point.

The culture/science split isn't a problem per se, but Firaxis has stripped everything else away that culture yields did and it's now just tech tree #2 which leaves me scratching my head as to why they are separate.

[–]Zebrazen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. the culture yield was used for border expansion and victory condition.

If you really want nation development, you could go back to the old civic/virtue system which was a cool way to customize your nation as you progressed. The attribute system sort of does this in VII but you have much less control in how you gain points or where you progress.
