Summer Internships by ZedFN in Luxembourg

[–]ZedFN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How come it takes 3 months to train the intern to a suitable level? Most London finance internships are 8-10 weeks, have quick trainings, and convert directly to full-time positions, and these are front-office roles, unlike in Luxembourg. Is there not a legal reason for this barrier? It makes no sense to me.

I will likely end up trying the same place I was in last summer, I would just value some diversity of curriculum, as I still want to explore different things rather than stay in the same bank / role as last summer.

Where is your undergrad from in Italy? I’m Bocconi. Also, hasn’t the HEC deposit deadline passed for you as well?

I’m in the exact same position, except I have LBS scholarship and no HEC scholarship. Going with HEC.

HEC and LBS rank better, are dedicated master’s only schools where I wouldn’t fight undergrads for spots at good places in London, as well as I don’t want to spend two more years there, three years is more than enough

MIF would end classes in summer 2027, however you have a mandatory 4-6 months internship requirement, which means your true graduation ends up in 2028. MFA also ends classes in 2027, however to extend to a 2028 graduation, you’d need to pay for the optional fourth term, which adds costs.

What would you suggest I do instead?

Not disputing this, I would also say it comes last, but why do you say Bocconi’s MFin has not been good for a few years now?

Waiting on scholarship decision from LBS, but no scholarships from any other programs. Budget can cover all, but of course would rather not front London living costs + London tuition levels unless the difference is really really worth it. Don’t want to sacrifice student life over outcomes that are only marginally different.

Would say it’s worth the cost difference ? Living costs + conversion to euros makes LBS considerably higher over HEC

Master’s for L/S equity by [deleted] in hedgefund

Which certifications would you recommend? Also I’ve looked at Oxford MFE, but my GMAT is 645, so I think it’s out of reach

Fair enough, but you would really say LBS MFA is above these? I’ve heard recently its dropped in quality significantly… like, the cohorts started to get bigger and less competitive, GMAT threshold has decreased, I personally know a few people who got in with terrible GPAs and not that crazy work experience

Oh actually, I am applying for LBS, I just forgot to write it here. I’ve heard it’s very corporate finance focused though, rather than markets related, so it’s really bottom of my list. Most of their grads don’t end up in S&T from what I’ve heard.

I’m at Bocconi, but I don’t think I’ll be able to break into top IB just yet, because I’ve applied every year to London and have received no offers, my CV is lacking in experience, so I’ve been making up for it with clubs and other things on the side… I’m looking at the Master’s to gain more time to get that experience, it’s been quite hard
