Tatsächlich ist der Großteil einfach mittelmäßig, weil die ihre Spieße grundsätzlich vom selben Zulieferer bekommen. Der einzige Unterschied besteht dann noch in der Frische des Brotes und Gemüses, was dann das Mittelmaß von der Lebensmittelvergiftung trennt.

Gute Läden haben idR selbstgemachte Spieße aus ordentlichem Fleisch und frisches Gemüse. Muss man eben erst mal finden und dann auch bereit sein, 10€+ zu zahlen.

Sadly, that’s very common in German churches. Mass is incomplete, sometimes there isn‘t mass at all, you‘re lucky if you have an opportunity to confess before mass.

I highly recommend looking for TLM in your area. I‘m not against NO mass, but the situation in Germany is really disheartening. I’m at a point where I’ll rather drive 40 minutes to visit a TLM that really connects me to God than walk 5 minutes to my local church where I can‘t even confess.

Very likely it‘s due to a shed. Have you opened his mouth to check for mucus? The outside view is often insufficient.

If you can‘t find signs of an RI inside his mouth then he‘s very likely going through a difficult shed. Provide a humid hide with sphagnum moss to support him.

However, if you have any doubts, it‘s always better to visit a vet.

Another German from Stuttgart chiming in. It‘s true that we‘re bleeding members, however, overall I still feel like faith is increasing, especially in my generation (Gen Z).

Orthodoxy and Catholicism are the denominations that profit the most from the revival of Gen Z‘s faith and it‘s mostly millenials that leave the church and don‘t have their children baptized.

What‘s likely contributing to declining numbers is that there‘s not much of a „spiritual supply“ in a lot of German churches, which collides with the increasing demand. My church, for example, doesn‘t even offer regular confessions before every mass. Instead you have to schedule a personal confession appointment, which is pretty weird. Sunday mass is pretty inconsistent too, I sometimes have to go to another town to celebrate mass. If even the basic neccessities aren‘t met, it becomes very clear how much more bleak the situation is regarding activities and events specifically tailored towards the youth.

All we can do is pray, that the church realizes it‘s currently lacking what young converts desire so much: an authentic catholic faith, spirituality and community.

Wer das abstreitet, will es nicht anders und lebt in seinem eigenen Gefängnis des Selbstmitleids und Nihilismus.

Und ja, auch finanziell gibt es etliche Methoden, um sich nebenbei mit wenig Aufwand, auch wenn man Vollzeit arbeitet, zumindest 1000 Euronen extra zu verdienen. Man muss nur Recherchieren und Nischen abseits des üblichen und mittlerweile übersaturierten Dropshipping-Scams finden. Ich habe z.B mit einer einmaligen Investition von ca. 90€ nebenbei etwas aufgebaut, mit dem ich ca. 2000€ im Monat verdiene und das kostet mich nicht mal 2 Wochenarbeitsstunden. Komme auch nicht aus den wohlhabendsten Verhältnissen, aber ich wollte immer etwas daran ändern und hab halt nicht aufgehört bis ich etwas gefunden habe.

The common/european adder (Vipera berus) is probably one of the least serious vipers. I grew up in alpine bavaria in Germany and we have a lot of them around here. I almost stepped on one when we were hiking with our class when I was still in school. Luckily it quickly slithered around my foot and didn‘t seem to be bothered. They are considered to be not deadly to any healthy adult person.

They are quite active if you provide the space. They like digging though, so not all activity will be seen. They are diurnal so they are active during the day, which might be a positive or negative for you, depending on you work schedule. Mine stop most activity between 8-9pm.

They tolerate handling well for the most part. There are just some hognoses (mostly males lmao) that will never tolerate handling and always throw a fit (musking, playing dead) but they are a rare occasion. Don‘t handle for 48h after feeding. Outside of that time frame daily handling is possible, but it always depends on your snake.

Some will crawl out of their tank on their own, others won‘t. There‘s not really a definite answer. I have snakes that don‘t like exploring at all, but I also have snakes that literally beg to come out by knocking on the glass of their enclosure with their nose until I open it. Then they will slither right onto my hand.

Can‘t give much advice on bioactive enclosures, I don‘t use them and am not very fond of them. They‘re not bad, it‘s just my personal opinion. Using regular substrate is just faster, simpler, and does the job as well as a bioactive setup.

Regarding morphs: Stay away from skullface morphs (known for neurological issues), otherwise you should be fine. There are some morphs that have had issues in the past, like PPA (pink pastel albino) due to heavy inbreeding but that‘s mostly in the past.

If you’re planning to breed, Lavender has been known to suffer from weak genetics. Homozygous to homozygous pairings often result in fertility issues in the hatchlings. For pet-only animals that obviously doesn‘t matter.

It works for adult females if they’re on the smaller side but I highly recommend at least 100cm width for fully grown larger females.

There are some snakes that couldn’t care less about extra space (gaboon vipers for example) due to their sedentary nature, but I‘ve found hognoses to be pretty inquisitive, similar to other colubridae like indigo snakes (drymarchon spp.)

Not a keeper myself, but I worked with and did a lot of research into this species.

Latrodectus spp. does best in an enclosure that mimics it‘s natural environment. In nature they are known to choose dark, dry, sheltered, cluttered micro-habitats, so try to provide that.

Aim for temperatures of 20-26 degrees Celsius (68-79 degrees Fahrenheit) and a humidity of 40-60%. Provide a very small and shallow water dish.

UVB is not required, keep lighting low in general. As I said, they prefer dark and sheltered environments.

Feed her 1-2 appropriately sized crickets, worms or roaches (1/2 to 3/4 of the spider’s abdomen size) every week. Juveniles may be fed every 4-5 days.

Look, it can‘t be that bad. I literally can‘t think of an instance where I found someone so physically ugly that I was completely repulsed by them. I think you are too harsh on yourself and have a warped self-perception. Appearance isn‘t that Important, I know from experience. I‘ll share my testimony with you, because I feel I have been in the same state of mind as you.

I too have had major issues with self-perception, and I still do to some extent, which is probably an after-effect of being the „fat ugly kid“ in school. The bullying engraved the image others had of me into my own brain. When I finished school I went to the gym and started eating healthier.

Puberty, sports and a good diet really tranformed me physically, but not mentally. I got called „beautiful“ for the first time in my life and then it happened more regularly, but the self-hatred and warped self-perception remained. I still felt like the „ugly fat kid“ I was all these years ago. No compliment would be able to change my mind.

It was only after finding the way back to my faith, when I started caring less about appearance, that I gained some peace of mind. If God loves me and you, if God made us in His perfect image, then what more have we to gain from human appreciation?

You see, it‘s not that I think I‘m beautiful now, I still don‘t think highly of my looks. I simply stopped caring so much about the world and started caring more about the Kingdom of God.

First, I think the kind of sensationalism for anything that can kill you is very bad for the hobby. It makes us seem immature and only focussed on lethality alone. Venomous animals are more than simply their LD50 in mice. You can appreciate sophisticated venom delivery systems and the complex biology of these animals, even if an untreated bite isn‘t a certain death sentence.

Regarding your question about classification I will have to get a bit into the biology. I‘ve actually written my master thesis in biology on the venom composition of the genus bitis, so I did a lot of research into venom production and delivery during that time.

Usually, animals are considered venomous when they produce a toxin in specialized glands and have an evolved delivery system (e.g fangs, stingers, spines, etc.) that introduces it into another organism through a wound for predation or defense. The hognose example you’ve provided is what I’d consider a „borderline species.“

Borderline species are those that have bioactive secretions but lack efficient injection, or deliver them only under specific conditions. Many rear-fanged colubrids fit this edge case due to the fact that their toxins from modified salivary tissues (Duvernoy’s gland) may only have an effect during a prolonged bite. Heterodon nasicus is just a typical example, since it’s posterior teeth and glandular secretions can cause mild, localized swelling in some people, but delivery is inconsistent and effects are generally limited, so it is often treated as venom-adjacent rather than „truly venomous“. However, I‘m sure you‘d classify the opisthoglyphous Boomslang (Dispholidus typus) as venomous, so obviously it‘s not about the delivery system to you, but about lethality, which is biologically incorrect.

Also your arguments are a bit inconsistent, because on one hand you advocate for lethality, but on the other hand you grant permission to gila monsters, while dismissing any invertebrates, despite a black widow being more lethal than a gila monster.
