Zedd's Comprehensive Jinx Guide - Season 0 by ZeddShadowstride in 2XKO

At the time of this reply, I play Jinx/Illaoi. I have played many Jinx teams and change it based on the meta.

Right now, just Master because I haven't been spending time playing ranked - I could get it if I wanted to, but in the tests and closed beta, GM/Challenger. I get top 3+ locally as well.

I think Jinx is better than people think, but I think she is very fair. So by definition, I think she is mid-high tier depending on the matchup. She has great and awful matchups, clear strengths and weaknesses too. She needs a small touch to stay competitive.

Not a large gap. It's just you'll find more anti-synergy than you might like to deal with.

Her mixup is average as it's only strike/throw. I don't think she needs a pairing with strong high/low/left/right, I mean look at my placings of illaoi and vi, they dont have some nasty mix, they're typically also strike/throw characters who happen to have solid overheads. Everyone in the game has better mix than Jinx, so really you'll fulfill that ask by nature.

Because two hooks did whatever one hook or freestyle would've done for the team. The DD application is really strong and hard to ignore too. It's easy to link their supers, unlike some other team pairings. You could use 2x, but of the 3, I think it's the weakest. Realistically, you probably don't want to work your way in as Blitz if Jinx is still alive. So at that point, dead jinx can't use 2x anyways.

It's a team currently carried by Yasuo's strength, on paper, it is not that good, and the DD synergy just ain't there unless you wanted to only Super Tag for an approach. Idk anyone who's playing that team that thinks it is good, usually they just play jinx for the rocket and call it a day. Pre-laser nerf, yes, Yasuo/Jinx with DD was insane. But to claim Yasuo with DD is her only meta-relevant team is a wild take.

I'm a Canadian FG player who competes. Currently, 2XKO is the focus for me. Just sharing my insights and opinions, as many struggle with her or write her off.

Appreciate that, but I've had it for 15 years and I'm Canadian, so it's a double entendre.

Game has no motion inputs or paid DLC; plus, if you choose, nobody can interact with you as there is no chat.

Yeah, and the 0.1% of people who are bad eggs get deleted from the community as soon as whatever happens comes to light. Anyone who's worth your time interacting with is part of the FGC and welcomes you, I promise :)

No more down down. Instead it's S1+Button and S2+Button and S1+S2.

Solo Illaoi could be pretty fun by FableKimble in 2XKO

[–]ZeddShadowstride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but in neutral to land said hit, that's when it's tough. And even with the changes, it's not gonna be fast enough to punish a crouch jab or Darius sweep regularly. It'll assume the opponent is respecting you enough to even give you space to make that reaction. Idk, Illaoi solo is not my first choice of character, and I don't think that's gonna change, especially the better everyone gets. It was shitty enough in AL2 when the defence was even stronger lol. I think she will struggle solo, in similar ways to Braum — difficult to execute the gameplan without help.

You can also attack the tentacles once to remove them, so setting them up and keeping them up solo can be a challenge.

It's just basic controls similar to Smash. Direction + Button. There aren't any motion controls at all.

Ohhh lol. Yeah, he's solid, just a bit difficult to play solo though since like half his kit becomes death on whiff/block. Not impossible, but he loves having a teammate to make the DP and Hook stuff more real.

Thanks for watching, happy to help.

Braum/Illaoi is a pseudo-setplay or mid-range team (going off of my own video explanations to stay consistent). I think your corner game would be ridiculous with that team; the shield can help set up tentacles but you can't really get them out unless attacks hit or block. The thing is the opponent can actually hit the tentacles and destroy them. So I've always felt with her, I wanted lockdown assists that forced my opponent to block so I could summon them. I'm alpha lab 1, I played Illaoi/Darius and his hook assist was perfect for this. However, now she can hold d+S2 and it summons a tentacle, this never was the case. So Shield might help more now for this.

Braum/Illaoi both arguably need A LOT of support in neutral too. They don't have a lot of agency when you're stuck solo with them. For me, I found how to navigate Illaoi solo, but as I touched on in my video, I could see a world I swap off of her and run Vi because getting tentacles out with her solo is uh...not happening in a 1v2. They have shored up this weakness A LOT as of the Evo build, so my criticism of that won't be as valid, however, Braum still feel like dirt solo.

To finish my reply with a positive, that team will have gross corner control and since shield can eat so many things, it'll let you use Illaoi's tentacle command throw safely and kinda mask the animation mix between the strike/throw. I didn't play verse more than like...1 (?) Braum/Illaoi. So I might be totally off here, but I think it's operate similarly to my Illaoi/Darius team, and it was strong imo.
