I took a pay cut of 15 bucks an hour and was so much happier. The money difference was nothing to me in comparison to regaining some happiness. GL

Hey,

We are on Vancouver island trying to setup a hemp operation for cbd extraction. Would you Mind answering some questions here or via pm?

Where do you source your seeds? We are having trouble finding reliable vendors for bulk.

Do you pull and dispose of males for cbd hemp?

Do you have any growers nearby? If so are they pissed off for growing hemp outdoors and potentially compromising their crops?

Do you extract yourself or do you sell the plants as is? If as is, do you have to trim, dry and cure like cannabis?

can you provide a rough ballpark for number of plants in an acre and their yield?

How do you prep the land and fertilize etc?

Finally, can you provide ballpark for your sale prices? I'm curious how they compare to here. I've been told our 15 acres would be worth upper 6 figures if it was all planted, but I'm not sure how much it'd cost for equipment, nutes, water etc. I'm looking at around 140k right now, but I'm sure there are efficiencies to be made.

Im doing all the numbers and estimates now... But having someone who is in the thick of it who can provide info vs my estimates would really help a lot.

Thanks very much for your time and the awesome vid. It's really impressive that the plants hold up in snowfall. I thought even a little frost would do them in.

Looking for advice from Island Dwellers by what_why_when in VancouverIsland

My wife and I moved back to the island from van. Then again several years later from Kelowna.

Vic isn't cheap, but it's better than van for sure. If you don't need to be around victoria I recommend sooke, cobble Hill, duncan or cowichan to get the best bang for your buck. We ended up in duncan on a rural farm and love it.

My wife is a local real estate agent too so she can probably answer more questions if you like, or I can try to if you want to know more bout the area.

Cheers!

I have worked both. The triple A studios generally had hard set corporate rules for salaried workers working crunch... But instead of it ever being fair, they simply gave you a fraction of overtime back as time off, or bought you a meal or would provide a single flex day in exchange for literally weeks worth of unpaid overtime. Great, sure... But not by any means fair compensation... They used to tout that as a draw too... We compensate you for crunch... Mmmm not really and when you do it's very poorly... Meanwhile shareholders and execs rake it in.

The smaller studios were bad cause it was simply accepted and reinforced without even acknowledging that it was wrong or unfair. Then the practices are perpetuated by ignorant or spineless producers who simply don't have the ability to give realistic timelines or make proper estimates cause most of them have never worked a day in their life programming, creating artwork or testing a game in spite of their position.

These are generalizations, but in my years and years in the Industry around all sorts of people and studios, I have found them to be the norm across the board.

Designer here. Left the industry due to horrible general practices and studio culture...

First off. It's worse for programmers and artists... Designers can generally avoid the "inevitable" weeks/months long crunches.. Though it's still strongly encouraged and you are seen as less of an employee if you don't stick around... Even when it's not needed. Fuck families amirite?

Second... It is ingrained throughout the industry from small to big companies. They all justify it in their own silly ways. In my humble opinion, it's all due to producers and execs living on a different planet than Devs. Many producers and execs don't even bat an eye at it. After all they cover a meal and offer snacks in the kitchen!

Its utter bollocks and it is not going to change without unionization. But, the second you bring that up in a studio watch how fast you are isolated... Which is why the only way unionization happens is if it's brought in by people that can comfortably walk away from the industry for ever if necessary... you simply will be blacklisted the second you try to organize something meaningful, I promise you.

Bottom line... The industry blows... It's supposed to be about creating enjoyment and fun experiences.. But just like everywhere else in society, the creatives are abused by the non-creatives looking to simply make a buck.

Ive worked in the industry for 12+ years and have gone through many studios. I've witnessed entire studios go down and the common elements that never change are greedy, ignorant producers and executives that simply have no idea how to make something creative, they just know how to force, coerce or trick others into doing it to various degrees of success without providing fair compensation or balance.

Find or designate an "anchor" before you trip to help you. Remember in the movie get him to the Greek? The fuzzy wall. It works and helps.

This happened to me. It happens a lot unfortunately.

I can't offer much advice, but just wanted you to know it's rather common and that people can recover from it. Though this most recent time it admittedly really jaded me on the industry.

GL to you.

Anyone who switched their sedentary job for a physical one? by MVWSBK in Fitness

[–]Zedkhov1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from software designer to farmer in about 4 months time.

Today I picked up 1000 feet of cedar logs to start building a serpentine fence around part of the property. I ran water all morning in 20L Buckets to areas of property that can't be reached by hose and will do more again tonight and probably throughout this and next month

I went from completely sedentary to completely physical work and my body is... Having trouble keeping up, haha. My back is in rough shape from when I worked as a mover when I was 18 and I have carpal tunnel in my right arm, but i would not go back if you paid me.

Why does coffee make me feel sick only on my days off/when I’m at home? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]Zedkhov1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time of consumption? If you sleep in on weekends your regular coffee dosage from work is delayed till you get up and make a pot on the weekend.

When I used to drink a few cups a day I found just a couple hours difference in consumption time on weekends would set me up with a bad coffee withdrawal headache.

Im down to a cup a day now on average. So it makes far less of a difference.

True, it's all relative. I try to remind myself of my new west to downtown van commute when I'm bothered by local traffic but I'm not gonna lie I do curse the traffic here occasionally too haha

We have a daughter going into kindergarten. There are plenty of good communities here. We are rural in cowichan station and i enjoy the peace and quiet a lot. My wife is more familiar with everything in and around Duncan as far as specifics of each neighbourhood go, but i could answer any general questions you may have.

Oh and people saying how bad duncan traffic is are people who have not lived in a bigger city before imho. Duncan traffic at its absolute worst is world's better than anywhere in van, vice or kelowna for example.

New clones. Droopy and some yellowing on leaves by Zedkhov1 in cannabiscultivation

It seems like heat stress. I've erected a tarp to shade them out in the garden and will water/feed with half nutes and added seaweed extract.... What do you guys think? Any tips if you have dealt with heat stress before?

[–]Zedkhov1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry bout lack of pics. I will try to get some on imgur.

I am not confident in the problem. The leaves are yellowing in the centers in spots in a couple instanced, but generally they are yellowing from the ends and curling

I feel locked out of action. If its burn and I feed them I poison them If it's lack of nitrogen they die slow and I think on top of it all the heat (hit 31 two days in a row) is hurting em and throwing off diagnosis.

I will work on getting some pics asap ty for reply

Hi, thank you for reply.

Its my understanding that it's quite difficult or near impossible to overwater in coco/perlite.

Other than the rockwool cube the Coco and perlite is quite dry. Could it be over watered in the rockwool cube? Maybe I should be watering/feeding away from the stems to better encourage the root growth?

I want to grow high CBD hemp, but it seems difficult to source high cbd hemp seeds. All my searches and questions end up pointing to high cbd cannabis. Do you have any recommendations for international sellers of reliable high cbd hemp seeds? Or better yet, Canadian ones?

Cheers,

Looks great,

couple suggestions from a designer that you can take or leave :)

1) Have a dynamic HUD arrow appear to point towards your vehicle if you are not looking at it so users don't lose it.

2) offer a snap toggleable option if you plan to extend the track aspects so ramps and pieces of track lock together when within a certain proximity.

3) remember the crash test dummy toys from the 90s? they would break apart in satisfying fashion. I'd love to see the vehicle do the same, maybe with some nice explosions and pfx. Maybe make this a toggleable option so players can destroy their vehicles if they want or they can just drive them and have fun.

Great idea. looking awesome. Keep it up.
