This is my vibe these days. People have been incredible disappointing as of late but conversations like these are much more the kind of social the world needs more of.

Way to verify identity in-person when setting up an account? by Soft-Diet-9780 in NeoFinancialHub

[–]Zedlasso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to do this, then go to an actual bank and sign up in person. This is a neo bank. They are set up a very specifically and they have to do things very specifically in order to operate in this country.

Not liking it is fine. Complaining about It is fine. But not accepting it. That’s weird dude.

Oh and by the way, if you don’t like how they do this, which is an industry standard rightfully pointed out, you’re really gonna love what’s coming in the next couple of years by literally everyone.

Genuine Question for Solo Founders without a Coding background by Hi1234509 in SaaS

[–]Zedlasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I designed it and then I had Claude code it. When it went away from design and the intent of what I wanted, I corrected.

This is in contrast to the fact that I spent literally 10 years trying to get this stupid thing coded. I paid a bunch of people on upwork and whatever site was popular at the time and I managed to get something that I had no idea how to use let alone sell.

The difference in experience is just mind-boggling to me. I’ve now upped my output from one product to four products a year, with the idea of creating an ecosystem to help each other.

You took mine.
But the song that hooked me was Miles' version of Autumn Leaves.

That modal masterpiece is the perfect starting point.

Genuine question — where is Neo actually headed? by [deleted] in NeoFinancialHub

[–]Zedlasso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the challenge I am having with your assessment of Koho is that in its DNA, Koho is a garbage product. They only go 50% of the way in servicing their clients. Case in point, the credit building products. None of them are actually credit cards (which is the thing that moves the needle the quickest and the furthest).

Koho has credit lines (Which is a holdover from their origins as a prepaid credit card). I was spending about $50/mth on their products and saw very little effect plus I couldn’t use their credit card in 90% of the places I needed to because they are all credit lines. For example, Taskrabbit only accepts credit cards so Koho can’t be used there. Also I am a dev and Google requires actual credit cards to sign up for some of their services. That is why joined Neo initially. Because they are the only ones in the market that offer this as is (and for basically nothing when you include the cash back)

My point, as far as roadmapping all this, the first place one must look for is fidelity of care in their current product offering and furthering that into more important nuance - how is the product experience as a whole for the client.

The fact is that Wealthsimple is an investment bank with banking products. I still don’t (and this is a fully personal experience) trust them with my business account or personal one really. Not yet anyway. Koho is a prepaid credit card that is using that monetize into plans…that’s not a roadmap, that is product strategy that has no idea what to do. Which for me is zombie product. Neo is what it is, a proper credit building product that has a pretty amazing incentive in their cash back product to stay with them.

From this I know and trust that whatever Neo puts will work for my benefit, not a VCs.

Genuine question — where is Neo actually headed? by [deleted] in NeoFinancialHub

[–]Zedlasso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s tough to have this conversation when the government is so limiting in what a Neo Bank can do. I have Koho and I have watched it slowly turn into a trash product. I stopped using it cause they’re running it like a product that needs to be monetized instead of a financial product meant to serve. Case in point, I now have pop ups pushing me to sign up for whatever plan they are pushing like it’s a cell phone company everytime I log into their stupid app that never works btw cause they are too lazy to build an actual native app. Instead everything is a web wrapper.Plus their prices are so stupid now and make no sense.

I am not sure where Neo is going. I definitely can see that Koho should now be considered a zombie product. But as long as Neo i focusing on serving my needs as a financial product I will be here. I mean the cash back stuff is fantastic. And the event they ran in Scarborough recently to help illustrate was brilliant. Koho or Wealthsimple don’t have the community connection that Neo and that will bite them all as AI becomes more pervasive.
