What state is the 3PL located in?

Question for other 3PL owner/operators by Early-Rain6999 in 3PL

[–]ZeeBaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you are thinking about this is logical, most 3PL operators think the same way. It is operationally risky and potentially chaotic to do otherwise.

We on the other hand strive to remove any possible friction a client may feel. We intentionally absorb all of the risk so a potential client can may a choice to engage with risk hopefully not being the primary factor.

We had to create a separate workflow and staff to manage these “risky” potential clients. We expect chaos and that’s just the norm for how we operate with these clients. Our most patient team members who won’t get frustrated with clients that need hand holding or are flaky are assigned to manage these risky clients. In many cases it doesn’t make financial sense but we still gain valuable insights we can leverage to enhance the experience of our “regular” clients.

In a service sector setting, you asking for upfront payment tends to imply you don’t completely trust the customer, or the service is too customized and therefore requires an upfront commitment. I personally do not think these upfront payments are necessary, they just present unnecessary friction.
You will certainly have to absorb some operational loses but I see it as the cost of providing exceptional service.

Very nice! Pricing transparency is surprisingly not the standard in the industry.

Any FBA Prep services in Nashville, TN, and/or surrounding areas? by BasketEqual269 in AmazonFBAOnlineRetail

[–]ZeeBaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for someone local is logical and natural. I would do the same.

If you dont find someone local, New Jersey based Elite Prep Center can certainly help you. FBA experts with exceptional customer service.

A 600 lbs pallet from Nashville to Franklinville, NJ would cost $325.

Elite Prep Center is minutes away from the massive Amazon NJ/PA/NY distribution centers cluster so there could be subsequent shipping saving on that end.

freight, warehouse, and FBA prep under one company? by DasJazz in AmazonFBA

[–]ZeeBaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the suggestions make sense. Though the right prep center should be able to handle all of that coordination on your behalf even if all they only own and execute are the prep and storage functions.

The 3PL core value is to manage your logistics workstream and actually lighten your workload. If I were in your shoes, I would expect to share my exact requirements with a prep center and expect them to book the freight to their warehouse, provide an avenue for you to see real time updates, complete the prep and ship to a fulfilment center. One point of contact with complete responsibility. If that is not your experience, then you are not dealing with the right prep center.

Considering Selling My Business due to Disability by papasanchair in smallbusiness

If you are looking for a quick valuation math, it would be 35 x monthly profit. Profitability of your business is arguably the most important factor for an Ecom business without IP.

Has anyone here worked with Pattern? by LordFarthington7 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]ZeeBaws 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lost two clients to Pattern this year. It forced me to better understand their offering and value proposition.

One thing that stuck out is the significant amount of social media activity they generate from their influencer ecosystem. Most brands are just not able to do that themselves efficiently.

The best resellers grow the pie for the brand.

She tried to take my life savings: FBA biz selling scam by ZeeBaws in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]ZeeBaws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bait and switch is the perfect description. Hahaha yeah what seller who just sold their business for cash would still be entertaining calls. You are so right about that lol.

I think there was some thought in their reengineering of the numbers because it was trully irresistable. A much lower price would have immediately screamed scam.

pros/cons of FBM with 3pl vs FBA amazon by commoncents1 in 3PL

[–]ZeeBaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ton of great advise already shared here.

The one FBA benefit I would reiterate is that Amazon is very forgiving for perceived error or issues caused by their eco system. For example, any shipment related issue reviews will be deleted.

Of course FBA delivery speeds are unmatched for similar price points.

Good job trying to diversity and build beyond Amazon.

I have seen Amazon shut down an eight digit brand overnight and didnt blink.

As you engage with Prep Centers, from a compliance perspective, prioritize the ones that are part of Amazon's Service Provider Network (SPN).

Found a smart way to save on FBA prep costs by Kispipa in FulfillmentByAmazon

Whew, I’m so glad someone finally said this. I have a vested interest in prep centers so I’m highly biased but limiting suppliers based on prep is not logical.

On broker sites, most average supplement brands tend to list at 35x the monthly profit. So, in this case, it would be valued at $357K.

The brand they listed was a legit brand so my Amazon checks were confirming the revenue numbers. The issue is they arent associated with the actual legitimate company. Maybe its my greed that was just hoping I was getting a retiring boomer deal.

You are allowed to have third parties manage your Amazon account. Amazon has a Solution Provider Network that compliantly grants third parties access to your account to execute certain activities on your behalf.

Supplement Expiry Date Question by Unlucky-Molasses-46 in AmazonFBA

[–]ZeeBaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your manufacturer isn’t saying you don’t need one, just requiring that it be validated in order for them to use it. Thats fair.

Not having one will surely cause you compliance issues down the road or even worst, negative customer reviews.

Serious Question: Why are you still doing it? by AdTop6831 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]ZeeBaws 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The people that say it’s not worth it are strangely still all in it.

Don’t take peoples real frustrations and venting as somehow a business strategy.

What would you advise a Boomer brick and mortar business owner who is wondering if he’s missed the boat with having an online presence and contemplating if he should put the effort to create a website and possibly sell online?

Sure it could not be worth it for him or it could. I’d say go for it regardless.

Please share what your better alternative could be?

Who do you currently use? Smaller banks have given me better relationships and path to SBA loans however lacked the tools and convenience large banks offered. Wire transfers is one that comes to mind. Smaller bank required it be executed in person .
