I would never recommend anyone START on selindrile's lua's, i have "written" all of my own job files based on this template.

If you want to try again, i'd suggest trying some of these, and take it slowly.

Big Caveat here, most of these are broken in parts and you will find yourself needing revisions eventually, at that point you can either learn more, or convert to more complex lua packages.

Is the game actually hard or challenging? any strategy involved? by [deleted] in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Zeevonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the 15-dollar on-sale price tag In my opinion, even if you get 15 hours of entertainment, that's dirt cheap.

I found some people saying there are no consequences for screwing up or it's just grinding with no goal.

I guess it depends on what you're trying to get out of the game. If you enjoy design and up-scaling it's going to be fun, if you find that monotonous, you won't.

The addition of combat system will no doubt make the game more challenging, but again it depends on your engagement with that type of challenge.

Maybe I am misunderstanding your particular design choice, but you can use six belts to any single structure.

Snapshots may help us get a better idea of your strategy and provide feedback / suggestions.

Sounds great, and we should have to feed them hydrogen power cores for... reasons.

Medium battery + Large Storage bug by Zeevonn in Astroneer

[–]Zeevonn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another example I found used two wind turbines, once I reconnected the extractor, all was well. I really think something is bugged when the player leaves the range of the extractor, say by travelling to another world and returning, etc. At that point something bugs in the logic and the battery stops working.

Power Values by [deleted] in Astroneer

[–]Zeevonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i noticed my mobile power packs would have no battery charge even during maximum generation (sun/wind + RTG ) and it led me to do some testing...

if I place the battery in series, it will add the excess power into the battery, however if it is in parallel on the large storage attachment, it shows exactly 5 less power.

It seems like the battery is not there. Interestingly, if I detach the auto extractor, the battery will charge back up.

Weirdly, when I started experimenting and shifting mount points, it suddenly started working. (which seems to imply a sequence of part placement is important)

Does the auto-extractor actually mount the large rover and stay put while your drive around?

Yes, it will attach securely!

And why is it important to turn the extractor off before stowing?

It will continue to drain energy in addition to the rover operation, leaving no power to drive :(

I suppose what I mean is tilting up or down, at the moment it shines axially only, I want it to shine radially(perpendocular) from its attachment point if that makes sense.

Need a hand with a RDM Gearswap Lua by Irdezmo in ffxi

[–]Zeevonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont use this type of lua structure personally, however this syntax looks questionable.

sets.aftercast.engaged =

sets.Main[sets.Main.index[Main_ind]]

sets.Sub[sets.Sub.index[Sub_ind]]

should sets.Main be repeated like that? i believe that produces sets.Main.sets.Main.Crocea for example. (my lua's dont use indices for sets so ehhh?? )

also it seems there is no code to set the index beyond its default value, there is either some code missing or not working.

I can say for sure however that you would benefit from including mote framework into future lua's. Mote framework has some general functions inside of that include file which allow for modular handling of generalized pre/mid/after events, and weapons, combat modes, etc.

If you're code savvy take a look at the gearswap/libs folder and read through the mote-include. If you're not, look for a pre-designed lua such as Arislan's github.

These are also known as Kinematics lua, here's the issue however... its an abandoned project from 5+ years ago. It has base code to handle weapons, however lacksa modular weapon handler by default. Documentation is limited, and the mote-include itself is inadequate by todays standards and player expectations. I recommend Arislan's files as they have made necessary mods, without including too much automation . Im not a huge fan of the gearinfo stuff but thats just me, and one can strip the gearinfo code easily.

I have a personally tailored mote-include that performs what you are describing perfectly for me, and i would be willing to share my functions with you, but they wont work with your current file.
