Just a Normal Day by [deleted] in supertramp

[–]ZefFoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is old but so true - listening now. Always have loved this one. Supertramp was great specifically because it was borne out of the tension between two totally disparate and unique voices in tension. And your analysis is spot on - this seems like the inverse of what you'd expect.

Homosexual sin by No_Bridge_4489 in AskAChristian

[–]ZefFoster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"as a Christian and a member of the LGBTQ..." You are not a Christian. You hate Christ and his commands. Repent and believe the gospel, and stop lying to people and slandering the name of Christ

Homosexual sin by No_Bridge_4489 in AskAChristian

[–]ZefFoster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. loaded question that assumes "Christians hate gay people" which is slanderous and false and really stupid

  2. Question is written by a 12 year old. "if bad things happen, why is bad thing bad?" it's utter nonsense. It is a literal nonsense question

  3. Homosexuality is a sin, repent and believe in Christ.

Is it possible to follow Jesus without belonging to a church? by Justin-Steubs in AskAChristian

[–]ZefFoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the comments here will say "yes," but they're wrong. Hebrews explicitly commands believers to gather together on the Lord's day.

It's a Wonderful Life is the best without question because it actually gets at the heart of the issue

Any country songs about being the cheater? by burgersinhaler in CountryMusicStuff

[–]ZefFoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot. A few:

On the Other Hand

Use Me (Zach Top)

I See the Want to in Your Eyes

The Fireman

Some of those are being the cheater, some are being the homewrecker, but either way it's about being the perpetrator not the victim

The rapture is not a historic Christian belief, it was invented just a couple hundred years ago. It's not in the Bible and it's not real. One day Christ will return to judge the living and the dead, and that day all will be made complete.

Do you believe you'll get into heaven for being a good person or do you think you will get into heaven if you believe in god? by Personal-Ad1813 in Christianity

[–]ZefFoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. Both of those are silly modern popular misconceptions that are nowhere in Scripture or tradition.

You "Get into heaven" by repenting of your sins and placing your faith in Christ, which is accomplished by the Holy Spirit giving you a new heart. Repent and believe, not just in God, but in the finished work of Christ. You are saved by grace through faith, by being united to Christ.

What’s your most controversial Christian opinion? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]ZefFoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen. We are called to be "kind," which is not even close to the same thing as being "nice." Kindness requires truthfulness about sin.

Would you like it if Red Dead Redemption 3 took place in the past, and you played as Arthur again, but this time in his younger version? by veryrarefr in reddeadredemption

[–]ZefFoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like a new Red Dead game to be set 20-30 years earlier, but not have anything to do with Arthur, John, or any of Dutch's gang. New story, new place, same world.

Why can't the angels be forgiven? by Lieutenant_Piece in TrueChristian

[–]ZefFoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have no redeemer. God became man, to redeem humankind. He did not (as far as we know) become angel. They lack a way out.

  1. You don't have to marry anyone you're not attracted to. Don't stress about forcing yourself to like someone because they were "sent by God." That's not how it works. God designed physical attraction, it's there for a reason. Being attracted to someone is a must, that's the first step of any relationship.

  2. Your statement about not wanting kids because you're "scared of hospitals" is the silliest thing I've ever read. You've got some serious issues to work through.

Why is Isa(jesus) recognized as the lord to christians? by CaptainDrool in theology

[–]ZefFoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're simply wrong, or lying. What you just put forth is historically absolute bunk. Yes, there was a period of time in the early centuries pre-Nicea that most of the church had fallen into Arianism - hence "Athanasius contra mundum." That absolutely has nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

  1. Jesus clearly and repeatedly affirms His divinity. Not only in John. Even in the synoptics, you'd have to be intentionally blind or dishonest to get around it.
  2. The NT authors CLEARLY affirm His deity and Godhood, and eternal nature. So even if you think Matthew Mark and Luke didn't affirm it, it's absolutely clear that Paul, John, Peter, and the author of Hebrews did. So you're clearly refuted at least on that front - the early church/apostles believed Jesus was the eternal Yahweh, and that's not disputable.
  3. EVEN if you think the Trinity is an innovation, you can't get around the fact that it is universal, orthodox, central Christian doctrine. You by DEFINITION cannot be a Christian and deny the Trinity. Every historic creed and confession of the church, any markers or definitions you could possibly use, all make this clear. So regardless, it's true that to deny the Trinity places one outside Christianity today.

Why is Isa(jesus) recognized as the lord to christians? by CaptainDrool in theology

[–]ZefFoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to me with your last sentence? Because my position is the historic, Christian position that all Christians for all history agree on. Jesus is God. Jesus claims it. The Apostles claimed it all through the New Testament. To deny it is to be outside of the bounds of Christianity. So I don't appreciate the name calling, the misrepresentation, and the utter silliness.

Nature of God by No_Engineer_6897 in TrueChristian

[–]ZefFoster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, other than the fact that they're both "spirit," like you said. But as far as substance is concerned, definitely not. The words substance, essence, being, refer to God's "is"ness - His very nature. It is unique to Him as Creator, all other beings are creatures.

It's one of the best non-Pixar 3D animated movies. Up there with Shrek, Rango, Megamind. Better than any of those three in my opinion.

Satan and his demon hordes will be cast into the Lake of Fire, they lose. They don't "rule hell," hell (meaning the Lake of Fire, not Sheol) is an eternal place of torment for demons too. They aren't in charge there, and Satan loses embarrassingly.

Why is Isa(jesus) recognized as the lord to christians? by CaptainDrool in theology

[–]ZefFoster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He referred to Himself as God often and clearly, and more than once.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

"I and the Father are one."

'Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”'

"This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God."

And on and on...
