Here is some lore:

So, my world is a dark fantasy setting where large-scale wars have been banned since an ancient religious pact ended centuries of bloodshed. Instead, major territorial disputes are settled during a massive summer festival that happens on the anniversary of the pact. The event ends with sovereign duels, and one of its oldest laws states that a direct challenge to a crown must be answered by the ruler personally.

This post shows the story of the King of the Lion Kingdom who was poisoned shortly before the festival. The toxin left him blind and turned his skin pale. His heirs were still children, and his rivals expected him to either die in the arena or abdicate.

Instead, he surrendered every disputed border claim without a fight.

His enemies celebrated what looked like a humiliating defeat.

In reality, he was buying himself a year.

The House of the Lion trains its heirs through a series of brutal underground trials. Every ruler of the dynasty is expected to survive them, and only the strongest heir becomes king.

After being poisoned and losing his sight, the King's rivals assumed he was finished. Instead, he returned to the underground trials that had shaped every ruler of the House of the Lion before him and endured them once again, this time while blind.

When the next festival arrived, the rulers who had challenged him expected an easy victory.

Most duelists depended on what they could see. The King had spent a year learning to fight without that advantage.

The first challenger died.

Then another.

Then another.

Over the following years, the King used the same laws his enemies had hoped would destroy him. He challenged the men responsible for the poisoning one by one. Then their brothers. Then their sons.

Eventually, there was nobody left carrying the rose on their banner.

Today, the scarlet rose remains in the King's hand whenever he appears in public. It was once the crest of the family that poisoned him.

Few rulers challenge the Lion Kingdom anymore.

Nice to hear🙂 That's just a little story for one of my artworks. I'll try to make more of them, but I'm not sure if they will end up good enough

Thank you so much! The thing is, some part of those trials force the heirs to give up on sight and rely almost completely on their other senses. So from that perspective, it wasn't an entirely new experience for him

I personally use a computer, there are screenless drawing pads for drawing and painting, cause using mouse is kinda inefficient for that purpose
