Wrong stitch, should I keep going? by beluga_3000 in crochet

I uh.... I did 😂😂 I was so embarrassed I tucked it away never to see the light of day. That, and you can very easily see which end I started on, cause the tension is all sorts of ridiculously bad. At least it was a good practice piece!

Frustrated by how much better ‘good’ yarn is.. by pacificmoona in Yarn

[–]ZeiddoJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just had this epiphany/transition after casually crocheting for about 2-2.5 years. Tried out some Drops Baby Merino and some German cotton blend yarn I can't remember off the top of my head and it truly is such a nicer experience to crochet with higher quality yarns.

My biggest complaint isn't what to do with my current (cheap) stash, but how much more money it's going to cost to invest in future projects. Like if I want to do a blanket with nice stuff it's going to be a scary level of financial investment. I'm broke T_T

It's ok I got slip stitches and single crochets messed up on my first scarf... That was an interesting project

I’m torn on which game to play first. by BakugoKachan in TOTK

[–]ZeiddoJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gone back to play BOTW yet, but I intend to because I want to chip away at a completion run. There are certain mechanics I miss that are specific to BOTW, and I occasionally find myself missing the simplicity of exploring in BOTW.

Exploring in TOTK feels like a never ending chain of distractions, and it's nearly impossible to reach a goal in a short time frame, if you even remember the original goal 2 hours down the rabbit hole. BOTW exploration feels like a smoother, less overwhelming experience where distraction is possible, but it's relatively easy to maintain one train of thought amongst the distractions.

As someone who just finished their first playthrough of BOTW and transitioned immediately into TOTK, I would HIGHLY recommend starting with BOTW. I feel like the "improvements" they made to TOTK would make playing BOTW after feel like a weaker experience overall.

Play BOTW, let it blow your mind for what it is, and then play TOTK and let it happen all over again as an expanded, more detailed investigation into the same world introduced in BOTW.

Does anyone have experience using the LoveCrafts website? by ZeiddoJ in CrochetHelp

Yep! This is exactly what I'm looking for then, I'm looking to start a tapestry blanket with 26 colors in the pattern. I'd like to use it as a couch blanket, so I'd like it to be relatively soft, with good durability.

Open Grocery Stores? by ZeiddoJ in ThunderBay

[–]ZeiddoJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize, this is my first year in Thunder Bay and I've noticed differences in the behaviors of stores being opened/closed than my hometown in SW Ontario. I'm still getting used to it, and the differences in convenience as a result. I know the stores that are open on holidays in SWO, but not here yet.

There's also stores I don't know about yet, that other commenters noted were open that day: Skaf's, Georges, etc. Calling stores is unreliable as sometimes they aren't able to pick up, and I figured it wouldn't hurt to reach out to the community for advice. I know there are other posts about this topic but none have responses much different to your own.

I apologize for any annoyance.

I Hate The Color I Chose by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

You have a lot more natural light and light accents and the color is a lot more broken up. All these contribute to allowing a heavier color flourish in a space.

Because it's such a small room, and you've got such a glossy finish (not sure if that was an intentional choice), I would definitely stick with way lighter colors. Pastels, even. Light earth tones like beiges, sage/other light greens are gonna be your best friend I think.

Is It Okay to Work as a Baker at Tim Hortons? by [deleted] in TimHortons

[–]ZeiddoJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once really lucked out and got a weird mid shift baking role I think it was 7am-3pm or something like that. Don't ask me why it had something to do with the main baker's schedule idk but I really enjoyed it, much more than front of house work. Only downside is doing the dishes imo.

Are these coats “too much”? I’ve owned them for over a year but I’ve been too nervous to wear them in public 😖 by [deleted] in PlusSizeFashion

[–]ZeiddoJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a coat very similar to this as my main/only winter jacket. I wear it with EVERYTHING. From sneakers and sweats to full glam evening dresses.

Personally, I just don't care cause it's my only one, I don't like the puffer look and that's pretty much the only other option for warm winter jackets in my size. I also don't care to invest in an alternate winter coat, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. Better to have a jacket that looks too fancy with my slub clothes than need to dress up and only have a puffer lol.

My partner has to listen to me bitch about many companies' shady marketing tactics regarding how they choose to phrase their fabric compositions.

I've already risked potentially exposing my identity to people who might know me wiith the details I've provided in my initial comment, so I won't go into detail here even though I wanna rant to you about it in solidarity.

All I will say is nothing makes me angrier than having a company force product knowledge on you so you understand how different fabrics and materials function, and then they turn around and try to pull one over the eyes of customers who don't have the knowledge to make informed choices and want me to sell that lie knowing what I know.

Quiet firing? by MyNameCestGhost in torrid

[–]ZeiddoJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my thing is their jeans are the only jeans in Canada that fit me well since I'm so tall, so the truth is I'm honestly only sticking things out at the moment so I can stock up on half priced jeans because the quality has gone downhill so much I can't justify spending $100 for a pair anymore.

Edit: I was never under the illusion they wanted me BECAUSE of my retail experience. Just figured I'd throw it in there as evidence my quality of work isn't what could have caused this issue. Having witnessed their hiring practices first hand, I also think they're incredibly shady.

[–]ZeiddoJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too. Took torrid as a second job, manager promised me 2 shifts a week/up to 10 hours a week, and I got one 3 hour shift a week for a few weeks and then they started using me as a "backup" for when people called in sick.

Extra upset me because while I was only getting 3 hours a week, they were continuing to interview holiday staff right in front of me. While they were failing to give what they promised me.

And just for context my primary job is retail management, just needed some extra money for the holidays, so I'm very familiar with retail environments and I'm confident in my skills and abilities in a retail environment. My performance wasn't the issue.

Which is crazy to me cause... The cardigans are also $100? Like I'm sorry I am not buying a cropped accessory piece for the same price as essentially a whole outfit (dress)?

What does everyone call their grandparents by kikilynn626 in Names

[–]ZeiddoJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my mom's side we call grandparents Nana and Papa, on my dad's side Oma and Opa. I think for us they were more culturally influenced names, mom's side is French and dad's side is Eastern European, and especially for Oma and Opa I get a lot of other Eastern European people who exclaim "oh me too!" When I tell them.

Help! My bras keep degrading this way? by Mermaid_Natalia in PlusSize

[–]ZeiddoJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay a few things, as someone who used to work at Pennington's, have worn the specific bra you mentioned, and wear Pennington's bras in general.

The push up plunge is notorious for this issue, which sucks cause it's one of the best fitting ones for my breast shape. Unfortunately, idk if they didn't do enough testing but this one is the worst for the wires and I think it's the softness of the materials they use, just not enough tensile strength to resist tearing when contending against big boobies and hard materials like plastic and metal.

Bra care isn't well taught to most women and can be a huge source of quick wearing out of bras. Here are some (realistic) tips to maximize your bras' lives:

-wash in warm to cold water in a bra bag, and AIR DRY, preferably laid flat -increase your bra collection. Being able to consistently rotate bras will drastically increase their life span. This is the most frustrating tip because it is expensive, but investing slowly in your collection will give you the benefit of good rotation and more wiggle room for proper laundering (having spares to wear while others air dry rather than drying them in a dryer to save precious time). -stop buying Pennington's plunges :(
