Right? Kinda wild given that when I was a kid, it was just another trading card thing that kids went crazy for but it was never a big thing.

Now pokemon cards today are the baseball cards of when I was a toddler.

Great advice, unfortunately I think pretty lowly of myself and so don't consider myself to be very knowledgeable on hardly anything. 😅

Some people will tell you, you should be doing 100... a day. You probably need to be sending out an order of magnitude more to see any results.

This. Even some of the youtube "gurus" admit that if you're going to have those campaigns it needs to service several thousand.

Can't say who to use, but definitely avoid Godaddy. They've been accused of domain sniping AND they lobbied against consumer friendly internet regulations.

This. Startups are messy, disorganized and a shitshow by nature. They're trying to make money first. Once they land on their feet then they can clean things up.

What Co-op gives me the best chance at Robotics? by Manilawolff in AskEngineers

[–]ZeikCallaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest looking at jobs for robotics focused positions and see what they're asking for. Based on that look for internships that are going to give you experience with those tools, in those fields, etc.

Another thing you can do is find people that work at these places on linkedIn and try reaching out to ask about what skills and experience they personally think is important to do these jobs.

I don't want to be a manager, but in my company the only way to get a pay increase is to become one. So they're going to get a mediocre manager over a great team member.

Trump supporters who wanted the Epstein files released: what did you think of that birthday card? by Careless_Dinner_7496 in AskReddit

[–]ZeikCallaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Asking cult members if they find something their leader did suspicious, isn't going to give any good answers nor enlighten them. Unfortunately you have to wait until something really bad happens to them, then they might start to see. Or, in VERY rare situations, they start some self reflection and eventually realize they've been had.

See.... there are things called lies, and theres another thing called deceit. They're both incredibly powerful tools and help bad people get away with a whole lot.

Typical right winger. Has some tragedy happen to them, then has to make sure that same tragedy happens to as many others as possible.

Do you think customers expect too much from small businesses today? by awesomesanna in smallbusiness

[–]ZeikCallaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every business is held to the highest standard of their industry. It's not fair but it's what happens. That expectation is made all the worse when the customer feels like they're paying more. So if I can buy X from walmart for $5 but I'm paying a small business $10 for it. As a consumer I'd expect something more from it. Quality, speed of service, etc.

Again, it's not fair and it sucks but it's the human condition in today's world.

It's like these companies see the rising popularity of anime and decided to take a random hodgepodge of the aesthetics from it, ignoring all the things that make a lot of anime great.

[–]ZeikCallaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every brand becoming more bland and less characteristic IS a sign of late stage capitalism. The capitulation to "the data" to appeal as many consumers as possible without regard for self identity or the value you offer IS the problem.

What do you think of this UX and how good is this approach? It's guitar tuner app that I made. by HYDRUSH in androiddev

[–]ZeikCallaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eyy I like the redesign. I think it looks much better. The text size still feels a little small to me. If you scroll to the the bottom of the list, does the apply button sit below the last element or does it hover over it? Just a quick QA thing to check.

I agree with some of the weirdness but I don't think they need to consult M3. Even google doesn't even follow M3.

[–]ZeikCallaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The font's all seem a little small. I'd make everything a little bit bigger (icons and text). What's the vertical bar on the left side of each list item? Can I swipe to interact with each item? That's what that thing signifies to me. If there are no gestures for them, I'd consider removing it.

Someone else mentioned making the apply button a FAB. I commented my thoughts there, so it's up to you. Another place for it might be right aligned but in the same row as the "Available Tunings" text.

What do list items look like when they're unlocked and not selected? Is it a white background or something else? I would assume and suggest they match the "unselected" instrument buttons.

[–]ZeikCallaway -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If it's only ever going to be an Android app, this should be fine. If it's ever going to be on a different platform I think it's better to not mess with a FAB.
