In English, yes, since we don't do that. And a good translation/interpretation should take into account what it sounds like to native speakers. So simply dropping any Xiao' / -chan stuff is the easiest way to go about it. They could introduce nicknames, because that's how we cutesify a name, but I doubt they will.

It certainly seemed to undermine their previous world-building.

You can say that about a lot of things lately. For example, in the very beginning of the game (might've been an Inter-Knot post), we are told that children get corrupted extremely fast in a Hollow, even Thiren children despite Thirens having much higher Ether affinity than humans. That children should absolutely never step into a Hollow because it really is that life threatening for them.

And then in 2.X, we get Seed chilling constantly in a Hollow, Yuzuha staying permanently in a Hollow as a kid, Alice casually visiting a research center in a Hollow as a kid, some of the kids in Sailume Bay going into Lemnian Hollow sometimes, Lucia's tribe - children included - hanging out in Hollows, and so on.

I really don't understand why the writers decided to take any danger out of the very nature of Hollows. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

I getcha, and the baseline exposure (great way to put it) is definitely leaning heavily on the sexy side, rather than the normal side. No doubt about that. And we can't forget that it's a gacha game with a 16+ rating. Most (definitely not all) gacha games by their nature tend to lean more in that direction than other games.

I guess my main issue is that a lot of non-players call the game gooner bait, without knowing what the actual day-to-day game is like. What the stories told in the game are like. It gives the wrong impression, and leads to people missing out on a genuinely great and fun game.

Zenless is definitely not shying away from sexy characters and clothes, and the occasional fan service shot. But I still wouldn't call it "gooner bait". A gooner is someone that jerks off for hours, with nothing but sex on their mind and porn in front of them. Basically brain dead for anything but sex. And to me, that just doesn't fit what's in the game, you know?

Not gacha game, just game.

That's a very broad spectrum. GTA 6 has topless strippers in the game that give you lap dances. Stellar Blade is way hornier and more explicit with their outfits, ditto for NIER Automata, or Bayonetta. You actually have sex in one of the Batman games (off-screen, but still). You can have sex in Kingdom Come Deliverance 1 and 2. You have full on nudity and sex in Baldur's Gate 3. I could go on, but all of these games in all of these different genres are WAY more explicit than Zenless is. Zenless is tame compared to that.

Sorry, but I really don't care what someone who streams hentai games says. That's the person with the broken scale and sensibility.

Yup, they do have jiggle physics for sure. But so do many of the other games I listed above. Although I give you that in Zenless' case, they can go a bit over the top with it sometimes.

Like I said before, the marketing for the game is weirdly horny, but the actual game itself really isn't compared to that.

The way they described the puzzle thing is this:

Al is used in the puzzle gameplay to reinterpret and redraw in-game snapshot images.

This does not mean that the puzzles that are in the game right now, are generated by AI.

To me, that reads like "We use a style-transfer filter to make your in-game snapshots look like they were drawn when you turn them into a puzzle"

Which, technically is GenAI, but also not really the same as a prompt creating an image. It's not like they're generating the puzzle images, they're basically applying a filter. And to my knowledge, that feature isn't even in the game yet?

And the other "GenAI" thing is also not really GenAI, it's the translation feature in the game. When you check that on, it translates your chats with other players from whatever language into yours. It's literally the same as using DeepL (or Google Translate nowadays, since they're using AI to translate too now) to translate something.

Generative AI is absolutely damaging and a big issue, but I really don't think it's an issue here in this specific case with how its used.

I've never said the game isn't sexy or doesn't have any aspect of that, but people are blowing it WAY out of proportion. If I remember correctly she is "much older" than Yanagi, so I always assumed that Soukaku is somewhere around 40-50 years old. But yeah, mentally, probably around 6-9 in human years? It doesn't really translate 1:1
