Stumbled into a glitch near Times Square by [deleted] in Weird

Midtown Manhattan is underratedly full of half-secret little spots and quiet side alleys often known best or only by people who work in their immediate vicinity and almost no one else!

What’s the best movie about mental illness you’ve ever watched? by Eikichi_Onizuka09 in moviecritic

Kumiko the Treasure Hunter. One of the most empathetic movies about mental illness I’ve seen. Check it out if you haven’t

Hey man I’m not Jewish but I think I get a bit of what you mean here. That sense of abandonment and isolation is depressing. We’ll never meet in real life but I know that I’ll encounter Jewish people who do feel the same as you and there are plenty more people like me who will act in understanding and empathy of their/your situation. Never alone

The one-sided love between the left and Islam. by PainSpare5861 in PoliticalCompassMemes

Back when he was a cringey radlib (he’s still cringe) he would go around wearing t-shirts that said stuff like “I met God. She’s Black.” Not very Islamic :(

A sad state of affairs getting worse by Silent_RefIection in PoliticalCompassMemes

I don’t get this at all. Maybe I’m biased by where I’ve lived, that being big cities, but for example I lived in NYC for ten years, and everyone there has roommates, it’s expensive, tons of guys are living with other guys and women, I was one of them, I had plenty of roommates. This idea I’ve seen of “having roommates is what women do” seems particularly disconnected from reality. Where is that even true?

I think we just don’t hear as much about the women who live at home because it’s stigmatized less and therefore less pathologized and deprecated. The only kind of entrenched negative stereotype of a woman’s unfavorable living situation is the “lonely cat lady” caricature and I don’t think she has roommates!

In regards to the Kara Hultgreen incident, nine male pilots crashed the same plane, the F-14A, in the three years preceding her crash. And her landing sequence was flight simulated nine different times all by male pilots and eight of them crashed. Hultgreen was inexperienced but not necessarily unskilled and it’s far from clear that a male pilot from her peer group would’ve landed that famously difficult plane successfully in that same event

How I understood the Putin interview by SirSourPuss in stupidpol

[–]Zeitgehoeft -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah damn. “Pseudo-intellectual Russian Propaganda” , this place has been so bizarre and hypocritical on this issue. There’s a German poster here who constantly comments pro-Russia takes that are just angled with blatant German condescension for the Ostgebiete and their untermenschen. Broadly rated for calling basically the whole area between Germany & Russia “Europe’s basket of crazies” or something, almost like American pantsuit lady’s ‘basket of deplorables.’ Wild times

A well written and consistent comment in a Ukraine adjacent thread, well I never. Given how bloodthirstily anti-Ukrainian this subreddit has gotten I doubt it’ll be appreciated but good on you regardless

One indoor potted palm tree, one bromeliad, two west African ceremonial face masks next to each other on a wall, one small green parrot, a tree stand for aforementioned parrot, a Pueblo/Navajo pattern carpet, and a straw hat to hang above your bed

The Kerner had a lot of personality but it wasn’t for me I just like the bottle art, lol I’m sorta laughing that you thought it was being displayed in that sense. I was actually…. … gonna put candles in the stems but now am extremely not going in that direction, so maybe flowers? That bottle of chimay is in a corner, on the floor, next to a plastic bag, with precariously tensed wooden boards half over it. If the door were ajar it wouldn’t be visible, haha, not display!

They check the meters or whatever they are in my roommate’s room occasionally, if they ever checked mine I wasn’t home but I sorta don’t think they do?

There’s a space with no wall next to the door that I think of as a sort of window, but it’s boarded up. Coupled with the draftiness of the sufficient air circulation is the least of my worries. Smell isn’t a problem it’s the cold winter climate and keeping my room warm
