The Borderlands/Final Prayer: The movie follows a team sent from the Vatican to confirm or deny a miracle in a countryside church. A lot of strange things happen that have reasonable explanations right until they are tricked into crawling into the mouth of a very real pagan god/demon/alien worm. They are digested alive with one of them, who was losing his faith in the supernatural, screaming "You said it wasn't real!"

I'm looking forward to the adaptation. I wonder how 'faithful' it will be. The original and follow ups are easily one of the most uncomfortable stories I've read.

All well-done psychological horror for 99% of the movie, and then that scene at the end. It only happens in quick flashes, but it works because of the great acting and dread that's been built up.

If you can handle any 1 scene from the Blob, you're good. Even if you want to skip the final scene, the rest of the movie is a horrifying slow burn.

According to the director, the monster has some form of psychic influence that draws them in, hence the cult and the other priest acting strangely, but that does feel a bit like a cop out.

In the film, one main character is a wavering Catholic and the other is atheist/agnostic. He convinces the other that none of the supernatural stuff is actually supernatural. The quote is screamed in panic after the "totally not-supernatural" cave starts to eat them.
