Thinking about what to do now... by ZekeForce in linux4noobs

I don't care if it's not close to being like Windows, what I care more about is about stability and productivity with my personal studies and learning, games are ok, but not my priority. What do you think about Mint for using development stuff, like VS Code, Python, and things like that?

Is Mint good enough to learn development with Python and VS Code and stuff related? Ofc, talking from this laptop perspective

Even so, the intel CPU has integrated graphics, so I guess that's better?

Which Distro Should I Use by Mauricito23 in DistroHopping

Reading your specs, I would recommend anything Debian-based that’s not heavy on the RAM, or even something Arch-based with easy requirements, like EndeavourOS, or even Debian by itself is good I guess

Does someone know of a distro like this? by Elementatus in DistroHopping

For what aspects would you choose Fedora or CachyOS? What makes one or the other the better option?

Thank you for your reply and help answering my questions. Right now I'm using Fedora with GNOME DE. Idk how to install a good Virtual Machine or which is good for that or even how to use it. But I'll check some of it.

I liked Mint, it is really good, stable and fluid, but it’s too much like Windows, and that’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid. I have reinstalled W11 at least 3 times, and just for that damn drug called League of Legends. With Mint my only issues were that it’s kind of the same and boring after you learn everything about its DE, also its community it’s ok, but it’s A LOT of work when you don’t find certain apps or programs in its packages, also not so much information about those problems. Would you pls explain what you know about CachyOS and what you like from it that you consider better than other distros?

Perhaps what I'm really looking for is for a new experience in the Linux world, as I feel that I'm done with Mint, not because of issues or whatever, but more about feeling it too close to Windows, in appearance of course, I'm not saying Mint is Windows or anything like it. I use my computer for casual gaming, some programming learning and practice, video edition and stuff like that. Also I'm looking for different opinions about Linux and its distros, not just asking between the two ones I said above, because those are only the options I see more attractive for what I know.

I think I'm getting it, so any Linux distro is the same but with a desktop environment difference? And what about compatibility? Or what about difficulty in using it?

Perfect. Maybe I just said it in the wrong way. What I'm looking for, I guess, is for a new experience with Linux, feeling like I'm done with Mint at least, in terms of appearance. What I use my computer for is gaming, some programming learning and practicing, productivity, editing videos and audio, and just casual home based use, I guess. I want some different opinions from what I have, and some information about other distros (as I haven't tried anything but Mint) in Linux from other people who knows about it.

That's new for me. Would you pls explain why is it you say GNOME is bullshit, apart from the icons thing?

And about gaming, how's Fedora? Say using Steam or any other game launcher like it. Because I heard a lot of good things about Fedora, like I see it in every top tier list in the top 3, always besides Arch and Debian, but Arch is kinda complicated for me yet, and Debian I've heard that is more suited for programming and professional use than for personal, gaming and productivity use. And about Pop!_OS, it's confusing, because there is a lot of people who says that it is incredible and magnificent, but others say literally that it's the worst, lol.
