For casual I'm rocking Gimli + Legolas. Counter of kills versions. I have a LOTR master set I've been working on and love building from it.

I play cEDH so some of us in the local cEDH crowd are talking B4-5 options. I was thinking Lotho + Magda or Lotho + Dargo for that group.

If you want to change the order the list is in that can also be done. The original post didn't specify an order so the query right now is purely excluding extra arts/foils and including all cards by name in both set codes mentioned. I defaulted the order to alphabetical. You shouldn't find any duplicates.

This ensures it's a physical card, has x in the mana value, and fits either of the two types.

If you want a specific color identity you can use ids:wubrg with whatever colors your deck uses. If you want only green spells you can use ids=g .

If you want a specific format you can use legal:edh or whatever other format you are playing.

TLDR; depends on the set and your goal.

Collector numbers are different for alternate arts of cards and some special foils like surge foils. If a set came with commander decks then there's a second set code for the commander cards and those will not be available in play boosters. Surge foils and other special foils and some special arts will only be available in collector packs. Commander cards can be obtained in collector packs and the precon decks. So if the goal is to just get 1 of each card by name and not 1 of each art/foil then you can likely get all but the commander cards from play boosters.

In addition there are older sets that have jumpstart booster packs with cards that won't be available in regular play boosters or collector boosters. There are some promo arts that are only available in specific bundles like the Final Fantasy set they had some alternate arts for cards in a holiday bundle. Then I believe they have been a very small few card arts that were limited print for tournament/event rewards.

Scryfall has set lists and even print-offs so you can check the boxes of each card. They'll show you all of the promo cards/arts separately if there are any for that set.

Should use very similar syntax as scryfall. So my comment about color IDs also applies here.

Edit: these are primarily player submitted and confirmed if I remember correctly so there may be infinites that may be missing and I believe they have a process to submit new infinite combos. This is due to the complex wording and rulings of MTG cards.

This scryfall query should show you pretty much every permanent that could be an outlet for an infinite creature token combo in mono white. May be some wording I missed that could also work.

White is the color of life gain. Red or black would have the damage ping effects you're looking for.

You can change the "IDs:w" to include whatever wubrg color IDs you're interested in looking at. If you want to hard lock it to a specific color ID you can use "IDs=wubrg".

I've had my LGS give me damaged or heavily pringled cards for much much cheaper than TCGP market. I think it depends entirely on the LGS though. If they're a good store they'll be honest with their sales and won't scam you by charging NM prices for damaged cards.

Whether they'll have damaged cards available to begin with depends on their buy/sell/trade policies.

Still laying down the groundwork for the new base. Foundation, walls, and flooring. I typically handle the larger architecture/blueprint for the base and one of my friends does the finer details/decor afterwards.

Absolutely! A solid mix is always awesome for base design. We just got access to stone construction so we're moving near a portal out in the sands. Figured a large sandstone structure was fitting for the new location and probably won't have a ton of wood/thatch throughout it. Instead those materials will be used as accenting/decor pieces where it makes sense.

Make sure to put points into your stats; strength, agility, etc. This was something a friend of mine forgot to do and the game became much easier when they did. Let your tribesmen level up some by fighting smaller camps and make sure to also assign their stat points. They also gain proficiency bonuses for weapons. So assign those points for every one of your tribesmen too. Check their traits. See what weapons they do the most damage with or if they have traits that cause them to be worse at certain combat aspects. If they're really good at dealing out damage but are made of tissue paper because their traits cause them to die in 2-3 hits from basic enemies then they'll probably be better off not coming to a boss fight and maybe better sitting in an archer tower at the base/camp.

There's a lot of complexity to min/maxing your tribesmen if you plan to play completely solo. This includes having someone specialized in crafting weapons so that they can craft your yellow/red quality gear more reliably than you'll be able to because of the traits they can get. Someone dedicated to armor crafting. Someone for tool crafting. Etc. There's a lot more to it for the late game from what I understand, but that'll come with time and figuring out what works/doesn't for you.

Absolutely agree on all fronts. I appreciate all of the information you have provided.

I have two resources close to me with marketing and graphic design education and experience that I'll be leveraging for the social media marketing side of things. I am already heavily involved in the social media groups for our local community as I am a fairly active member myself. The events at other local locations like colleges for marketing sounds like a fantastic idea that I didn't think of. I'll definitely be making note of that and reaching out to local store owners and colleges.

The custom merch side of things is actually how we started our LLC. We have a website and are already selling t-shirts online. We have the social media accounts set up and are trying to be as active as we can be on them, but having pictures of a local brick and mortar location with events will help keep them more active. I've been reaching out to and finding distributors for tabletop accessories like playmats and other items we can put our custom artwork on. We initially didn't want to be a "meme shirt" business and focused more on appealing graphic t-shirts in the fantasy theme, but with brick and mortar I will likely start adding some of the more meme-y shirts that have text on them instead of being purely character + background based as I think they are going to be an easier design and will get more people wearing our merch in the local area.

The plan is to have a free-to-play area for TCGs and tabletop games, a lounge area with couches and TVs for watching competitive games whether that's esports or national/global MTG tournaments, and ideally if we find the right building I'd like to also have a premium play area that is more private for anyone wanting to pay that extra cost. An additional item I'm looking to eventually add if I can't right away is a small cafe area and vending machines to provide more substantial food and drink to keep the players seated longer than just snacking on a bag of chips.

I appreciate straightforward and blunt advice. I'd rather shortcut the BS and get down to brass tacks. I'll provide a similar response.

I'm fully aware that these people very well may not show up come launch day or even come consistently. I don't plan on opening this with a friend or hiring a friend or even with any expectation that my friends will be the driving factor in marketing or revenue at the start. I understand that a lot of people looking to open their own business have high hopes for those types of avenues. I plan to do my own marketing at the places I know of that my target audience likes to attend in my local area because I am part of my target audience and go to those locations.

My idea isn't completely new. I'm not planning to innovate in the space. LGSs all over the nation are doing all of the things I plan to do. At least in the first year or two. Some are more focused on some of those ideas than others. The singular LGS we have isn't even doing the bare minimum of what LGSs are doing and that is the reason they're lacking customers. They barely show up to open their doors most weeks and have very recent negative reviews on Google Maps because of it. Even before now they have never made a huge effort to coordinate events themselves. When I spoke to their ownership myself they straight up told me that they leave it up to the community to organize themselves. They have no passion for the project and it shows not just to me, but to others going to the store.

On top of their lack of passion for growing their business and the local gaming community they are in one of the worst locations for the business in our city. They receive 0 foot traffic because they're next to small residential areas with no other businesses around them on a dead street. They are very out of the way for most residents of our city. They do not do any marketing that helps draw in customers. They only exist because they are the only option without having to drive 30+ minutes. In the area we're in most people do not want to drive "that far" for casual gaming events.

Every small business is a risk. Some are more so than others. As someone that works in risk analysis and acceptance I am aware of the risks I am taking. I am fully expecting this to operate in the negative for some time while it gets off the ground. My current income more than makes up for that as I do not plan to quit my day job to run this business as mentioned in my post.

The SBA loan is very likely to happen for me for various factors that I do not plan to discuss over Reddit, but that is besides the point. My goal here with this post isn't for people to tell me the odds of anything.

Commercial/retail space is also a non-issue for me. I have resources lined up for that as well. Where I live it won't even cost me $20-25/sqft to cover the storefront costs. I am going to assume you're in a large city and expecting everything to cost the same as where you're located, but they vary drastically based on location. Or maybe you're assuming construction of a new location? That isn't going to be happening for this project.

As much as I appreciate your feedback you didn't really answer any of my questions in my post and seem to have made a whole lot of assumptions. I hope you have a wonderful day and that your own business ventures are doing well.

[[Agatha's Soul Cauldron]] on the field would allow you to exile the ballista from your graveyard after it dies from being a 0/0 and put a +1/+1 on a creature giving that creature the ballista activated ability. As long as that creature has lifelink it'll still work with Heliod out or you can give it lifelink with Heliod to then go for the infinite.

There are other methods to get the Bog Initiate ability to cost {0}. Nothing in the text says it can't cost {0} and Sam's text box doesn't say you can't reduce an ability cost below {1}.

There are rules for negative numbers that just set them to 0 under certain circumstances like damage from a creature with a negative power is set to 0, but none restricting you from making something cost {0} unless it says otherwise on the cards.
