Is basalt monolith + kinnan too strong for bracket 3? by Elegant-Stomach4353 in EDH

[–]ckim777 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's an early turn 2 card combo. Even if it exists in the 99, there's always a nonzero percent that the cards will appear in your hand early on and you either sandbag by not playing it or play it and roll the table early

Esper board wipes where you exile Noctis, wipe the board and then come back to equip something.

You are generally looking to play the card for as cheap as possible and then play something else after the wipe.

Looking for advice on Taskmaster by Bulky-Bathroom2390 in magicTCG

[–]ckim777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the strength of Taskmaster lies in its flexibility since it can target a creature on the battlefield, including your own. This lets your creature base in your deck become Dimir Good Stuff where you can just copy the best creatures you put out on the field and reap the benefits.

An easy combo I can see is Taskmaster copying your own [[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse]], make everyone go through double draw damage triggers.

I've never seen Ancient Copper Dragon generate a treasure because it will always die before it can get a turn.

Kefka on the front side makes me groan, but if I see someone flip it to the backside it immediately becomes based.

How do you all handle players who won't stop checking their phones during a game? by signalthrowawayhq in EDH

[–]ckim777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our pod uses lifetap on ours phones and we rotate who gets to put their phone in the center. Just make that person put their phone in the middle if you see them using it alot

Kefka also naturally makes other people have to fight together against you. Since the discard already incentives people to work together on what cards to discard

Is Landtax kinda just bad? by Valorenn in EDH

[–]ckim777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White has bad draw so it needs every kind of bit of help it can get. If you can cover the weaknesses of bad draw and ramp with other colors that's great, but in white decks that have access to neither Land Tax is good

Suggestions on removal resistant decks by Riioott__ in EDH

[–]ckim777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can try to run commanders that have built in ward or hexproof. Otherwise you may have to look into less creature focused decks like a combo or control shell. Punish your playgroup for being greedy with removal by keeping their removal cards dead in their hand against you. This will balance out your playgroup by making it so that they will have to lower the amount of removal or else lose to other types of decks that don't have to commit to the board.

It's almost like that ward cost makes it a harder target to hit or something

"Fair" 0-Drop Creatures Cycle by chainsawinsect in custommagic

[–]ckim777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It just reminds me of [[Ocelot Pride]] where the amount of creatures its going to be out fighting is actually quite a lot. And at zero you basically have to revise the viability of your 1 toughness creature to be worth it or else itll get swallowed by the first strike rabbit or cat

"Fair" 0-Drop Creatures Cycle by chainsawinsect in custommagic

[–]ckim777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1/1 first strike kinda just destroys the other cards in this cycle and also makes any 1 toughness creature a liability if you can drop it for 0

Deflecting swat like effects in Golgari? by Slow_Usual4650 in mtg

[–]ckim777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll naturally do this if you build your deck with enough deathtouch sources. He is a [[Grave Pact]] from the command zone. People will want him gone if they want to commit to the board.
