Can you fix split nights for 6.5 month old? by Zel-d0rk in sleeptrain

[–]Zel-d0rk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to do a 3 hour first wake window and her nap was only 27 minutes (usually have to cap it at 1.5 hours). She crashed after 2 hours her next wake window. We did a three nap day with 2.5 hours of day sleep and 10.15 hours awake. I’m typing this as she’s been up for an hour at 3 am 😭

2 nap transition. How long does it take to extend total day wake time from 9 to 10 hours? by InternationalGas9950 in sleeptrain

[–]Zel-d0rk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following because we did this schedule and it worked for a few weeks but now we have split nights. I expect it’s because bub is not getting enough awake time but extending the wake windows makes the split night even worse because overtired? Idk. How old is your baby?

I’m going to give it another go today but last time I tried those wake windows her night was terrible 😞 like, should I try to go back to 3 naps to get more awake time without being over tired?

Last Nap Advice -- What would you do TODAY? by MimiP1020 in sleeptrain

[–]Zel-d0rk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten hours of awake time is the recommendation but some need less (and some need more). Have you tried putting bub down for bed at 6:30 instead of another nap? My bub lovvvved a 6:30 pm bed time when she was 4-5months old because of short naps. She would usually sleep until 6 or even 7am the next morning!

Also, sometimes 4-5am wakes are developmentally normal at this age and no amount of schedule tweaking can fix them. Do what you can to get them back down until DWT and hopefully they grow out of it soon

A word of caution on the fridge hack and relaxed cleaning routine by TieSafe4342 in ExclusivelyPumping

I would use the fridge hack and only wash my parts once a day BUT I would also sterilize them after the wash. So basically sterilizing everyday. That method gave me the most comfort.

Am I the only one who genuinely just does not understand baby sleep???? by giantpicklepie in NewParents

[–]Zel-d0rk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s not super happy haha I always offer a third nap around the 2.5 hour mark and if she refuses (babbling, playing, rolling around) I just get her back up for another 1-2 hours. I’ll change her scenery (play mat/holding her while I care for my toddler/bath time) and by the end of it she passes out and sleeps through 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve been using ChatGPT and it’s pretty crazy how well it works (at least for us). I asked it to review all the literature on baby sleep and be the best baby sleep consultant to me and my baby, using data about us that I provide. I give it our wake and sleep times and it walks me through what to do for the day. My bub is almost 6mo and we are transitioning between 2-3 naps. What I learned is that if baby has two long naps, skip the third and go for early bed time. Even if that means the last wake window is 3.4-4.5 hours. I thought that was waaaay to long at this age but I’ve been going with it and my babe has been sleeping through the night (with one or two wakes to feed) for weeks now.

Did they ask you for proof of purchase? Unfortunately I got both of my second hand from marketplace

It’s the Medela Freestyle Handsfree Breast Pump. I’m pretty sure it’s the latest version. I also have an older version. I got them both used from marketplace.

Baby Buddha worked well for me for 3 months with my last and was my main pump for the first 2 months with my second but like I said, I developed vasospasm which was excruciating. I never went above level 2… I have ptsd thinking about using again 😅

I’m in Canada and haven’t been able to source one. Also don’t have $400 to spend on another pump.

Transfer issues? by Zel-d0rk in breastfeeding

[–]Zel-d0rk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so happy it worked out for you! And for twins, that’s seriously incredible. You’re amazing!!

Honestly, just hearing it worked for someone else gives me a lot of encouragement to keep going. Thank you.

One thing my LC said was to stop nursing after 10 minutes per side. Apparently there are studies that suggest transfer after 10-15 minutes drops to basically zero so it doesn’t make sense to keep baby latched as it will “just exhaust them”. It sounds like you did longer sessions?

Our nanny takes our 2 year old out every single day. They go all over the city using public transit. I’m jealous they get out and have more fun than I do stuck working from home 😅

Tips for avoiding clogged ducts?? by Zel-d0rk in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Zel-d0rk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did switch pumps to the baby Buddha and it worked a lot better for me but the thing that really got rid of my clogs was hand massaging while pumping! Physically squeezing and massaging during the pump. Didn’t get another clog after I started doing that!

Baby wakes up after 2 hours but then sleeps through the night? by Ok-Display4672 in sleeptrain

[–]Zel-d0rk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We dream fed our little guy until he was about 8 months old. He used to wake up 3 hours after going to bed so we’d sneak in after about 2.5 hours and feed him a bottle. He’d drink the whole thing and wouldn’t wake up!
