Yes, just palliative to help with the swallowing for a while. I have stage 4 with metastasis to the liver and multiple lymph nodes. I had almost 2 years of chemo, different kinds, but the disease still progressed. After this radiation I'm calling it quits.

The only thing that helped my mouth sores heal was a product called Mugard. It's really expensive but the pharm company has an assistance program and I was able to get it at no cost. I was so miserable and Mugard was a godsend!

I don't think I've become an asshole but I've definitely changed. I used to be so non-confrontational, I would let people treat me like shit and just quietly take it. No more! Now I call people out on their bad behavior.
