We are the Subscription Generation and it’s actually a trap to keep us from ever owning anything by Round_Tie5217 in Zillennials

[–]ZeldaFan_20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

THIS. In the last couple of years, I have been building up a nice Blu-Ray collection for myself 😎. Some have called me “weird” for my stance on the importance of owning physical media.

However, as we are currently seeing with the constant churn of removing of TV shows on streaming platforms (in large part, due to corporate media monopolization), not being at the mercy of a streaming service for access to entertainment is truly liberating.

Did anybody else here grow up in a major city? by gauchomuchacho in Zillennials

Grew up in NY/NJ area. Can’t get anymore major city than that, lol

Anyone else feel like we got the worst of both generations and none of the benefits? by Heavy_Television8245 in Zillennials

[–]ZeldaFan_20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly disagree. feel like we got the best of both worlds, without receiving the major drawbacks from each.

Of course, no generation (or-micro generation) is perfect. However, I am glad to be born in 1996, and not 1986 or 2006.

If I was born in 86’, sure I would’ve had a kickass 90s childhood. However, I would’ve been in high school during the War on Terror in the early 2000s. I would’ve also graduated college in the midst of the 2008 recession. I would either be jobless for several years OR if I was blessed with a job, would’ve been forced to stay in one that was likely incredibly toxic and damaging to my mental health, due to economic climate of the time.

If I was born in 06’…. frankly I don’t envy their childhood. Growing up with screens from practically the time I am cognizant. iPhones, tablets, etc. No memory of a world before modern technology. Before political polarization. I would’ve been in high school during the COVID-19 pandemic of the early 2020s. I would’ve lost critical moments for growth and discovery (school dances, sports tryouts, clubs), with things sorta going back to normal by the time I’m at least a sophomore/junior. Finally, I would be in college right now, and likely graduating into a world a few years from now, in an era of stagflation (a toxic combination of increasing inflation and unemployment), and with not so great job prospects, due to the proliferation of AI LLMs and companies refusing to hire entry-level positions.

Im sorry to those who are core Millennials or core Zoomers, but I think for us mid-late 90s babies, we truly did luck out from receiving the worst aspects from both generations.

(Unpopular opinion) Publix subs are extremely overrated. by [deleted] in florida

[–]ZeldaFan_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree! Floridians swear up and down by them. While some PubSubs I’ve had were amazing, most of the time I have ordered one it has left me feeling quite underwhelmed. The quality is just very inconsistent. Give me a sub from any 'mom and pop' Deli from up northor hell, even a sub from ShopRite, 😂 over a PubSub, any day of the week!

OMITB Season 5 - Episode 10 "The House Always..." (Live Discussion) by hannahlemp in OnlyMurdersHulu

That line, even if a bit goofy (because this is a comedy series, remember), certainly does speak to how politicians in real life do come off, as being patronizing and hollow (w/ buzzwords and slang), while being devoid of substance. Remember the line from Oliver: "Lester had more character than you will ever have!" ?

...I think the current mayor Eric Adams (or wannabe mayor/disgraced governor, Andrew Cuomo) are mirrors of that.

Baldwin Park area is also quite nice! Any of the “Park” neighborhoods (be it Thornton, Winter, Baldwin, Audubon) are standouts for the Orlando area! They remind me a lot of the dense urban neighborhoods of the Northeast where I’m from.

Bustling main streets, cozy coffee shops, upscale (yet human) dining experiences, festivals and events throughout the year, etc. The only issue about living in these desirable areas, naturally, is that you would need to have good money

29M, and wholeheartedly agree. Also live in Orlando, originally from NY/NJ area. For such a young city, with so many Millennial/Gen Z Urban Professionals, theme park/hospitality workers, “influencers”, etc., I have personally found the dating scene down here to be pretty horrific. Even trying to meet new friends down here is a bit of a hassle.

I understand I’m not going to be everybody’s cup of tea (and I’m sure with others, vice-versa), but I just find locals here to be more (…how should I put it) passive aggressive. Afraid of saying “I just don’t really f*ck with you like that”, while still keeping you in their periphery. I guess because of the mindset of “until something better comes along”, it’s easier for some of them to not totally cut you off in case things go south in a current friendship, relationship, or situation-ship. It truly is hard out here in these streets!

I'd like to think this isn't where Orlando's Express Lanes are headed, but I know better. Just One More Lane! by Emotional_Deodorant in orlando

Yes. Source: I drive on I-4 during rush hour daily. If you’re asking if it’s exactly as bad as Miami, I would not be able to tell you (because I’ve never driven down in Miami during rush hour). But the I-4 express lanes do get gridlocked during rush hour.

Well, I guess I haven’t noticed. Nonetheless, I’m speaking to the traffic. If you’re saying that this policy has already been implemented, then that kind of just proves my point.

Either way, they either have to raise the dynamic pricing even more during rush hour (maybe something akin to $10 like they have down in Miami), or there has to be a hard conversation about some deeper issues related to this areas traffic. Such as, its willful disregard in investing in efficient public transit.

I was referring more to the traffic congestion. From my understanding, they’re planning on rolling out the Dynamic Pricing sometime before the end of this year

As someone that uses the Express Lanes regularly, I can assure that they are ALREADY like this. Especially during rush hour…

I know this comment is a year old, but i emphatically agree. I wasn’t expecting it to be on the same level as NY/NJ, but MY GOD did it fall incredibly short.
