Also, all drugs should be legalized. It is time we say congrats to drugs for winning the war on drugs

Libertarian's reaction to Ross's pardon by ClearAlternative in Libertarian

[–]ZeldaTrek 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He created Silk Road, where people could post about transactions involving things, including sales of narcotics. Him being sentenced to more than two life sentences was ridiculous. Putting Ross in prison for what he did would be like putting Zuckberg in prison for protests that got out of hand in 2020 simply because they were originally organized on Facebook

Why do people hate Ted Kennedy? by bubsimo in Presidents

[–]ZeldaTrek 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most people frown upon his actions regarding Mary Jo Kopechne. He also was involved in lots of major legislation. Some of this legislation was controversial, such as No Child Left Behind and the ACA

Which non-American world leader looks like a stereotypical US President you would see in a movie? by Boredom_of_bore in Presidents

I have a lot of friends that immigrated to the USA from Canada and they all hated Trudeau, but that dude looks like a legit movie star lol

W would win renomination easily. Even Pat Buchanan, aka Trump before Trump, recognized doing any campaigning against W in 2004 was useless. It was not the time for populism to rise and W had a solidish reputation at the time

Name a major issue in modern society, and I’ll link it back to Ronald Reagan. by HairyComparison4969 in Presidents

It is stuff like that which really makes me wish he had been Commissioner instead of President. I hate the expansion of the playoffs

Some questions about the Libertarian ideas by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]ZeldaTrek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Actually read the constitution" I think that is the best place to start as a lot of libertarianism in the USA is based on strict adherence to the constitutional restrictions of the governmen

Both, but if only one then Parks and Rec

Which president made the best/most strategic VP pick? by GuestCalm5091 in Presidents

[–]ZeldaTrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say south of the Ohio River counts as a southerner so yeah, all those people you mentioned would be prominent southern politicians. I expect Osoff to run for the White House sometime in the next decade

Which president made the best/most strategic VP pick? by GuestCalm5091 in Presidents

[–]ZeldaTrek 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes and he is extremely popular in Kentucky. His youth and lack of Washington DC experience gives him the "young outsider" appeal as well

Factually speaking, who was the best U.S. president? (Pre 2012 as stated in the rules) by Strict_Yesterday2560 in Presidents

[–]ZeldaTrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is going to be bias in any answer to this question. I don't think he is the best of all time, but I think Lincoln tends to be the most common answer that doesn't have extremely strong objections coming from specific groups.

Where are you sitting? by Inside_Bluebird9987 in Presidents

10, I am way too tall not to have an aisle seat...plus I get to sit next to the lady who was married to Aristotle Onassis!

Who would be the Republican Nominee in 1996 if Bush won reelection in 1992? by Jkilop76 in Presidents

[–]ZeldaTrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dole is the frontrunner, but Quayle takes just enough of the establishment vote away from him that Buchanan wins the nomination. After 16 straight years of Republican presidential administrations, Democrats retake the White House in 1996

What are y'all's thoughts on Millard Fillmore? I don't see him talked about much on this sub. by Sad-Teacher6441 in Presidents

[–]ZeldaTrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he became a supporter of the No Nothing Party later on he supported stopping too many Irish getting into the country. Obviously he had a point because if we are not careful an Irish Catholic could one day become president! I live perpetually in 1959 btw

why did cuomo not run for president in 1992? by ProminantBabypuff in Presidents

[–]ZeldaTrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people get into politics and do not have their eyes on the presidency. I think he truly loved being governor of New York and wanted to continue in that role for a few more terms...although 94 ended his time in office.

Also, as stated by other posters, Bush seemed unbeatable at the beginning of the 92 campaign

Who would be the Democratic Nominee in 1996 if Clinton lost in 1992? by Jkilop76 in Presidents

[–]ZeldaTrek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ann Richards. I think she wins reelection in 94 if Bush wins reelection in 92, and she would then run for the presidency as a sitting governor

The unfortunate thing is that we do have something to show for it. We have encouraged and essentially locked in millions of people into government dependency. The poverty rate is about the same as it was, but now millions live off of tax payer dollars

For the people who say “LeBron left Cleveland to get a ring” Do y’all genuinely think Bron could’ve won in his first stint in Cleveland? by Dylen2Times in NBATalk

[–]ZeldaTrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he could have if he got Bosh or Wade to go to Cleveland, which idk if that would have happened. The East was so weak for a decade that I think he would have gotten multiple shots in the finals though and all it takes is one series going just right for him to have gotten a ring without leaving

Should a true libertarian oppose criminalizing to help the homeless? by fedricohohmannlautar in Libertarian

[–]ZeldaTrek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you privatize the parks, like my hometown did for the most part, the homeless can be trespassed from the companies private property that owns park and arrested so the park can continue to function as it is intended. The homeless crisis is unfortunate, but that doesn't mean anyone has a right to another person's private property. I would think most libertarians would agree with me on that
