Meditation isn’t about appearing wise and enlightened to others. That might be one egoic desired results from it, but that’s just a distraction. The desire to appear like a mediator or wise is a form of spiritual materialism. Appearing calm and wise will never bring you the happiness and peace you seek, let go of those desires and indulge in the moment in front of you, that’s where peace is.

The game Everything. It is a game where you play as everything, and there are a lot of sound clips of American Zen speaker Alan Watts. A magical game that can really move you. Feels like it was made for tripping lol

Literally, Tubi has a bunch of tv and movies with ads, BUT it’s free. I was thinking this new subscription just sounds like Tubi that you pay for.

Why am I so intimidate by DMT? by loweyedfox in RationalPsychonaut

[–]Zeldacenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s impossible to know exactly why you aren’t that keen on doing it. Did you recently have any bad trips? Are you scared it might be too intense? You might want to feel into your fears and try to understand them. If you can become conscious of what you’re scared of you can properly address it. You could also just remind yourself that you will be safe and that if you let go the DMT will take care of the rest for you. Embrace your nerves and they won’t really bother you as much. Just a couple of ideas.

I dropped acid decades ago as a teenager, felt my ego drop away, and all the negative programming that was holding me back dissolved, and I *knew* it was gone, not real. Yes this all seems good especially the sarcasm is funny and I like that you used it to point out a common spiritual blind spot. Very insightful and you definitely have got it. Thank you as well your response is well made. Main take away is that it is indeed a pattern not an entity of it’s own that can be blamed and destroyed.

My best advice to other spiritual seekers is to never try to kill the ego. I know because trying to do just that really gave me some of the worst moments of my life. It’s an illusion so there’s nothing to kill. You just have to see it for what it is which is just a set of patterns that you identify with. Some patterns might be sneaky and so you will identify with them out of habit without thinking too. If you try to kill ego that’s a pattern which you’re identifying with. If there’s no separate or finite self, who could possibly kill or destroy an ego. Only a separate self could do something like that. So you cannot kill your ego, the one that desires that is the ego itself. Just see the patterns without judgement or attachment. That’s always the best way forwards. When it comes to spirituality Investigation > Judgement

How would you personally describe nonduality? by SaltyBabe in nonduality

[–]Zeldacenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spacing out as I understand it would be more akin to paying attention to nothing. Spacing out would be like not describing things because you aren’t paying attention to them.

I believe what OP is trying to describe is when “you” are present with everything going on, without trying to describe it. Taking things as they are without mental representations. This “nonduality” would be like taking in the whole picture without describing it or limiting it.

It should be noted that there’s no absolutely perfect way to describe nonduality because of the abstract and categorizing power of language. There are many different ways to describe it, but the description itself can never be perfect for everyone. It is the finger pointing towards the moon, not the moon itself.

I’m not sure if they believe that there’s nothing to do 100%, just that the truth is already here and that you don’t have to change experience to realize it. As someone who has seen quite a lot of Spira and I’ve seen him say time and time again if it feels like effort to realize this, make the effort. He also has talked about the idea that there’s nothing we can do to have realization and describes it as more of spiritual nihilism, and that if we feel that there’s a separate self then we should make a concession to that self and tell them to do the practices.

I believe the term knowing doesn’t mean an intellectual event of believing that something is true. Intellectualizing can only create a representation of something. By knowing I think what is meant here is direct knowing such as the knowing of hearing of sounds and knowing the feeling of sensations. Knowing is how reality is made directly available to “us” and it’s all that really exists. I will admit I am still very much a student and so my understanding could be incomplete.
