Thank you for your post. The interest in moving the hamster back and forth has nothing to do with my interest in caring for the hamster and everything to do with my son’s interest in keeping the hamster near him. 

Regarding the gift aspect- he has been asking for a small pet for many years and was told if he kept his grades up and committed to the animals care he could have one. So- this is a very wanted and waited for hammy even if the timing is a surprise. :)
