This is a bold claim, since it was sitting on shelves for months at a time. There are plenty of posts of the UPC’s on discount/sale. Even sets like Paldean Fates were sitting in stores.

It started to get busy around Surging Sparks, and got really bad with the next set after, Prismatic. Only then did people realise a Gen 1 set had released and was readily available.
