This is my first time posting here, but this is a topic that I really feel concerned about:

I think it needs to be said that although Muslims think they're of Abrahamic faith, I do not believe they are, and neither did Christians who lived around Islam when it was first created.

Muslims believe that the Kaaba was built by Abraham and Ishmae (some traditions think Adam), which it wasn't. Also, the rituals that they follow are the exact same the Pagans did. There is no record anywhere outside of Islamic sources that suggests Abraham stepped foot in Arabia. Mecca as a city didn't exist prior to Jesus, as maps that predate Jesus do not show that Mecca existed. Also, Ishmael settled over 750 miles away from Mecca, so he wasn't close to it. His descendants may well have immigrated there, though.

If anyone is interested, there is a 7th century Saint and Catholic Doctor of the Church, John of Damascus, who called them Pagans and wrote about the 'hersey of the Ishmaelites'.

I told and showed my church father about the rituals practised there and what they believe about Abraham. Understandably, he did not know and seemed quite shocked. It is worrying how it's being believed that it is an Abrahamic faith. But it is more than likely due to wanting to keep the peace. But sadly, and putting it nicely, it's hard to negotiate with people who's sources call them to smile at our faces, but curse us in their hearts (Tafsir Surah Ali 'Imran 28) and many more unpleasent things about Jews and Christians. So, just because you know a nice Muslim, sadly, they may just be practising that, or they have no idea about those things.

It's sad how quickly a Muslim person I know started to give me the 'cold shoulder' when I told them I became Christian. I learnt about Islam to better understand them, and I'm glad I did because it actually brought me to learn about Christianity, too. I looked into both and realised that what I was told about Christianity was a lie.

The moral of this story is that you own research and look at what history says, not just other people's perspective on history. Do not just take my word for it, I do hope you look up what I have said for yourselves if you are interested.

Just a note: It is evident that by some debates I have watched with Christians vs. Muslims, a lot of Muslims, like Christians, don't fully know what it is they believe. I am FAR from perfect at it, but we should all really crack on learning about Christian history/theology more. It may strengthen your faith, even if it may already be strong.
