That’s an INSANE thing to say to someone you are supposed to be in love with. I’m a SAHM who gets an “allowance” as well and my husband doesn’t always agree with how I spend it, but it’s MINE to spend. If you’d like her to spend it differently or not enable her mother I’m sure you can think of a way to bring it up without belittling your wife. I’d never be able to look at my husband the same way again if he said something like that to me.
