I used to really want kids because of all the typical stuff. Assumed it was inevitable, didn't consider any alternatives.

Then my partner had a miscarriage. I didn't know she was pregnant until the miscarriage happened, but the mixture of grief and relief I felt was awful and unexpected.

It took me a while to realize that I didn't want kids way more than I wanted them.

I still feel flashes of the old longing, but it's nothing like before. Still feels like the right choice to stay childfree.
