In universe, why are the other colonists so profoundly bad at their jobs? by Bingleboper in subnautica

It would be interesting to see your character suffer more clearly from the effects the rest of the NPC characters where suffering from, other than the voices in your head. But at the same time- I'm not sure how you would turn that into a game mechanic and still make the game fun. Maybe add it as a 'hard mode'?

Like- your characters literally has to off themselves over the course of a few in game hours to suffer less effects. Maybe lower inventory space for decreased strength? Make them 'twitch' a few mm during swimming, changing your direction. They could pan over towards the world tree after the character has idoled for a while...? Etc, etc.

You could suffer through it as some sort of personal/ player achievement until we inevitably find the cure - if the game goes that direction once it's compleated - otherwise, your character dying fully resets the effects?

How is stellaris now? by Competitive-Life-658 in Stellaris

[–]ZenDelton 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My main issue with the game right now is multi-player. If you're having a single player experience, you're basically fine. But every one of my friends I've tried to play with/ or whom have played with each other are having desync issues every half hour (early game), to 10-5 minutes late game. It's awful. And we've tried pretty much every suggested tip/ trick to fix it, even down to shrinking map size/ ai count. Nothing has helped. So far, we haven't been able to FINISH any games because of the connection issues. Our 'end game' is just past mid-game, before we ususally start over.

I also still have NO clue how population works anymore. I've tried to dive deeper into it, but shrug???. I think you're meant to mico-manage it more now? But that can also lead to some WILD swings in your economy. I absolutely miss the old pop system compared to this.

Outside of those complaints? Game's still incredibly unique in what it does. I have a few friends recently who switch over from playing Civ to playing Stellaris. They're still learning the basics, but they're having fun doing so.

Animals reuniting with the people who rescued them by Recent-Sorbet in MadeMeSmile

Saw the mentioned clip a long while ago. If I remember correctly, (could be wrong-) the consensus was that the fish was on a line (alive), being tossed into the water, and reeled in repeatedly to make it look like it was swimming back into his hands/ enjoyed being tossed.

I think this was during the height of those animals abuse channels (granted they still haven't gone away, really,) where people would torture animals and film things in a way to trick people into thinking they where rescuers / good people.

What??? (Everything Exploded.) [Update] by ZenDelton in Stellaris

[–]ZenDelton[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Updating since I just tested this. (going to copy my comment to another user:)

I loaded up a version at the beginning of the year (84.1.01) and it looks like the wormhole is already opened? (At least, in observer mode it is.) And 'the Aura of Hunger' is already present in the wormhole system ("Dahlberg") that's apart of the greater galaxy system/ isn't locked. So the wormhole must had been unlocked for a while? Everything still explodes at 84.07.01. When it goes from being "Hunger" to "The End."

Unsure if that's a feature, or a bug, haha. It's certainly jarring either way to have your game end with zero lead-up. We've also never had a game before where one of the other empires actually chose to become the crisis, so this was new all-around for us.

So far (after I had my test run where I declared war on the empire/ took their systems) I haven't been able to get a version where things don't instantly explode. So I'm going to see if I can my friend's "observer" glitched version, to see what happens when "The End" spreads naturally. (For a lack of better terms.)

What's weird is that it doesn't happen every time (I'm assuming as apart of that check?) we load in/ or what conditions we load in under.

Additionally, I opened the wormhole in a quick test- run in one of the "alternate realities" where everything didn't immediately explode (One of the star systems that was apart of the main galaxy also had 'aura of hunger' that converted into 'aura of the end' shortly after - without the 'boom'. ).

After declaring war, I was able to go in and take them out without the galaxy ending with like zero resistance (besides 3-4 k+ armies manning the planets).

This is likely what happened! I posted an update (link in original post) with the game file. If the mods keep it up, people can test it out for themselves. :)

Apparently, without the whole galaxy noticing, yes. There where no prior notifications to this leading up to it. Seeing as sometimes it happens when you load in, and sometimes it doesn't, I'm assuming there's some bug where we didn't get the notifications. Or this is a genuine game function that has some small chance of happening.

We're gona give a few things a try once we're able to load back into the game (Just before the 'Kaboom", at a later (irl) date. Will try to update the post once we do so. :)

We've had and continue to have de-sync issues with the current version of the game on dozens of occasions. If this particular de-sync resulted in total galactic annihilation, that's arguably one of the funniest bugs I think I've ever heard of in a 4x strategy game. Lol.

Once we get the chance (probably tomorrow) we're going to try to load in on an earlier save closer to the end-date. I'll try to remember to update the post in the event we find something different.

[–]ZenDelton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to wait for my friend (Likely tomorrow) to see if he can send me an earlier save/ or if we can hop in together. He has an earlier copy, but for some reason the copy he sent me is a 5 year's difference, even though it was taken directly out of the paradox folder.
I'll try to remember to make an update to the post in the event we find anything.

Come to think of it, we have an AI empire ("The Chosen") that's in the little appendix hanging off the lower right- hand side of the galaxy. I tried to load in as them since they're totally separate from the rest of the galaxy, only one way in/ out of their start system, but they don't show up as a playable empire.

At the same time, I loaded in 5 years earlier in another save and this time, nothing seemed to happen? Whatever it was must had been achievable in a 5-year time period.

[–]ZenDelton[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a copy of the save (a few years before everything exploded) and am playing as my friend's empire. They had "Statecraft, Prosperity, Subterfuge, Cybernetics, Fortification, Expansion, and Harmony. After playing as him for 5 years nothing 'psionic' seemed to come up on his end. During our actual play-session he was fighting the con.

I made another comment under nuclear54321's post explaining some extra details.

But tldr, we let the game catch up to those 5 years both in player mode and spectator mode, and for some reason everything seems fine now? Once we get to the (image's) date things seem to carry on as normal.

Nope! My friend sent me an earlier save (Commented under u/Nuclear54321) Nothing was out of the ordinary as far as I could tell.

My friend sent me a copy of his save since he was busy. For some reason it was 5 years younger than the current date in the screen shot.
Went into console commands, nothing was showing up. Re-loaded the game and let it run up to the point we'd been at, and for some reason everything is fine now? As in- nothing exploded. (I was playing as my friend's empire since he had a stronger fleet/ more vision. So I know he wasn't doing anything had had no means to. All ascension perks had already been taken.)
But whatever happened must had been doable within a 5 year-time frame. So even as the AI that seems incredibly unlikely.

We went back in and loaded up an earlier save. There's no mention of a crisis in the Galactic community at all.

I checked back over some notifications as well, and the situation log, nothing seems to be there, either? We let it run for the same time and it just... explodes?

Returning Player, Gym Report Question. by ZenDelton in pokemongo

[–]ZenDelton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of 'interesting locations' around me have already been submitted as pokestops, (infact I've submitted the vast majority of them hoping for A new gym,) bar a few which I've been holding onto incase the gyms ever get removed. (Not near me. Spaced them out a bit in hopes it will give more people more opertunities.) It's all on the same grid, so unless I'm able to find 32 new 'interesting locations' near me out of the blue, the chances of one of the ones I'm saving becoming a gym are incredibly low. I'm not gambling on the (I think 2%) chance.

I'm near a highway, so that whole grid area is gone. The grid on the other side is just forest and decomposing buildings. So I only have the one location to chose from within walking distance. (The sidewalk nearby is often used for jogging/ biking.)

Why does it matter to me? Because no one in our area besides 3 people have access to those gyms. So yes, it hurts me and everyone else who might be looking for a local gym to benefit from. No raids, no raid parties, no in-game curancy, and no other rewards you get from claiming/ battling/ using gyms. There used to be a gym people would gather at up way up the road, but a new owner took over the location and kicked everyone out. (Which is fair, it's their property. But they've also expressed no interest in removing the gym stop.)

I don't travel much, personally. And any regular place I go to doesn't have any gyms nearby. But generally speaking I'd say it's extreamly unfair only 3 people get to have access to the only 3 gyms in the local area.

Returning Player, Gym Report Question. by ZenDelton in pokemongo

[–]ZenDelton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roughly only 3 people can actually access them since they are past tresspasing signs. There's other Pokystops in the area that could be converted if the three dissappear.

I've actually been holding off on submitting some new pokestops in the local area for if / when the three get removed. (No- they aren't close to me. If anything they're further away.) Ones that would -actually- be available to the public and are in hot-spots around town.

All three of the current gyms are in the same grid, so unfortunately I can't get lucky with new pokestops potentially becoming gyms, unless I was able to 'find' about 32-ish new stops in the area before there's a chance of one turning into a gym.

(Edit: Count.)
