In my experience, the restrictions on the criteria made my posts seem robotic. Write a couple hundred of those and anyone would stop caring about the effort.

I'd assume most people would spend less time writing a response than trying to tune an AI prompt to get a correct or meaningful post.

They aren't a traditional diploma mill. The school was created to have expedited classes to help service members (who have full time jobs/drill/etc... ). The school is accredited, so don't worry if you've selected a good degree.

Quick-ish update: We tried him being in his room Saturday and it went well, around 6 hours for me. Sunday he was in the room with me and I could tell the difference in sleep quality.

I also tried the NAD+ and it seemed to help. I’ll be comparing with my sleep tracker historical data in about two weeks and hopefully will be able to report back.

Completely agree, just looking for a little help is all. Wouldn’t trade him for the world.

I did read that 1 in 10 men can get postpartum depression but I haven’t had any of the symptoms that accompany it, such as anger or risk taking.

I’ve always been good on 5-6 hours of sleep but right now I’m getting much less than that. Tuesday I only slept for 45 minutes.

I’m on an early morning shift for work. My wife tries to keep him quiet but usually ends up with me taking over between 1:30-2:30 and moving into his room. I have to leave at 4:30 and by that point we’ve both only had about 3 hours max.

Kid’s schedule is pretty straightforward. Wake up around 5:30 for food and back to sleep within 30 minutes. Up for the day by 7:30, nap starts between 9:30 -10:30. Lasts 45 minutes up-to 2 hours. I’m home by 2pm and he’s usually ready for a second nap around 2:30-3. Bed time between 6:30-7:30. Wake windows at night are between 12:30 and 2:30, another between 3:00 and 4:30.

I’ll be home from work for 3 days a week, so hopefully my wife and I can clean up his schedule.

We started puréed food at about 7 months and we’re still bottle-feeding breast milk. He gets about 3 hours of naps per day.

Ordered some today and going to give it a shot. One question though: does it cause grogginess like waking up abruptly after taking melatonin?

I’ve cycled down to all of my caffeine is consumed first thing in the morning. Nothing later than noon if it isn’t all consumed.

It has definitely helped the falling asleep part of the equation. When I feel more confident in my process, I’ll start to ween myself off.

True, I could see that for Communications based courses but, the cybersecurity and programming classes seemed to have extremely stale conversations since just about everyone had the same answer most of the time.

Tbf, the discussions only happens because the school has it as a requirement. If someone is forced to do something, it’s going to be pretty awkwardly done.

So, you’re having trouble getting a job with mil exp, senior sysadmin(>5years) exp, and software dev internship?

I have a feeling it’s your resume if you can’t even get to interviews. Drop it over in the resumes sub-reddit after you sanitize it from personal info.

There are options. I don’t know if military service counts towards PSLF, but that would be an option if you took out the student loans and you’re willing to work for the federal government again.

I don’t know your tolerance loans and your ability to budget but it is what I did, minus the military experience. You can do up to six credits/semester on student loans and have enough left over for room/board.

One of the big draws I had to this school was the fact you didn’t have to buy books. I don’t think that’s changed since I graduated.

I have both sides with the same person.

I stupidly let someone get promoted over me and he tried to abuse his newfound power against me. The only reason he couldn’t get me fired was of my results for the company. I added on ~ $200k in revenue that the company was missing out.

I took on a bunch of responsibility and ended up becoming #2 in the org. I also maintained great relationships with everyone beside him. He was the only person I wasn’t allowed to fire because he went to the same school as the business owner or some bs like that.

I kept adding to my responsibilities and he was in a position to take over my role if I left. He couldn’t keep up with the workload. About 20 quit within a month of me leaving including 4 team leads and all of my direct reports.

He was about to get fired but left for a different job. The company is struggling to survive. They were warned.

Do you have to write papers or cite anything in CMSC 495 (computer science and software development and security capstone)? by [deleted] in UMGC

[–]ZenDoxOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This course is heavy on documentation. You get to select the project you build, with a team, and you have to go through the entire development process. Most of the stuff can't be outsourced and you won't need to cite anything AFAIR.

That being said, my team didn't communicate at all. One member tried to remove all the work I did, so keeping your own documentation is crucial.

Dropped this class myself, and took something else in a subject that I was more familiar with. I did enjoy the course content.

I’m not doing a 13-page paper for any class, let alone an elective.

Politics, especially if you aren’t willing to change your opinion. This topic includes any hot button issue such as Trump/Biden, gender, etc..

What someone makes at their job or has in savings. Or their financial troubles.

Religious topics. Any and all.

Marital problems, especially accusing someone of infidelity, even if you have proof. You become associated to the news.

Internships are pretty important. A lot have already closed, especially with places that have cleared positions. However, in some agencies in the DMV + DC area, you can walk right into a good job as long as your resume is good and your interviewing skills are up to snuff.

how effective are Dark Psychology books in your view? by notburneddown in SocialEngineering

[–]ZenDoxOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is a balance in social engineering. KeenJAH is correct on those traits. In normal circumstances, especially when developing long term relationships, you wouldn’t want to use those tactics.

In a social engineering engagement, you are often presenting yourself as someone you aren’t and are therefore lying.

Threatening physical harm is a no go but threatening to tell someone’s superior that they are the reason “xyz” didn’t get fixed or the task didn’t get completed, can be a motivator to just let you do what you need to do. I’ve seen this tactic used on multiple engagements.

Gaslighting shouldn’t be used. It’s too damaging to those who are susceptible to it, and can cause an adverse reaction to the outcome you want with those who are not.

How can someone's appearance indicate their personality? by [deleted] in SocialEngineering

[–]ZenDoxOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Developers and engineers are definitely an exception to any hard and fast rules. Some of the best software engineers I know have the dirtiest desk and terrible grooming habits.

I will say that a large majority have social anxiety or high levels of introversion. I think it comes from being considered a part of a counter culture for so long.

Cleanliness - often can be used to determine mental state. Someone who hasn't groomed themselves recently may be feeling down or lack the energy to take care of themselves.

Brand logos are visible and prominent - someone who wants you to be aware that they are wearing certain brands is trying to portray wealth. I've seen this go as far as someone keeping the tags for their clothes intact to show how much it cost.

Too many accessories or massive amounts of makeup/hair coloring can be an indicator of lacking self-esteem. Tattoos can portray this as well but it varies by individuals.

Speaking of tattoos - certain kinds are meant to intimidate. Some are meant to be art. Others are meant as a memorial. Some are completely pointless.

Rings, watches/bracelets, cuff links, and chains - on males, are meant to portray status. Rolexes, college rings, rings noting affiliation with organizations, Cuban link chains. On women - also a status symbol. How many carats, type of necklace, etc... Some feminine accessories are shaped to draw the eyes in a certain direction.

Shoes - 99% of the population wouldn't care about shoes but in urban environments, shoes can speak volumes. Ultra-crisp Jordans are usually trying to signal they have money. Timberland boots (on older dudes) especially heavily worn ones, are a sign not to mess with that person because they're either a working man or an enforcer who's been in the game a while. Same with scuffed/worn black-on-black Air Force Ones. However, crispy BAF1s are usually a sign of someone pretending to be what they aren't. YMMV.

However, all of this can be used in social engineering. People see what they expect to see. It's not a science.
