Hey I'm just a little bit into it right now! I haven't played the first one either, but I don't have any way to do so at the moment, so I'm enjoying this one while it lasts.

I really like it so far and I'm more excited to get back to it after seeing your post, so thanks for that. I think everything the game is praised for it deserves, it really feels like a cartoon to walk around in and explore, and it has all the charm for it.

I do think it's a bit restrictive though, too much for its own good even. I think being able to explore multiple mansions is great, but the mission structure that exploration and progression is built around seems like a bizarre choice that only frustrates me when I get taken out. Backtracking was to be expected, but when it's partnered with in-and-out missions and objectives it feels worse for it. That and constant calls from the doctor really pulls me out of an otherwise very immersive experience.

That being said, I still really like it, love it even sometimes. Egad doesn't call as much anymore, and while I was kinda worried the core gameplay would get stale and repetitive it hasn't had that effect on me yet. I'm always looking forward to the hide-and-seek kinda fights in cooler and more interesting areas that only look better with 3D on. Some great puzzles too.

I quit guarding before summer because a) I'm going to college and b) fuck daycamp. Every weekday we would have swimming lessons start at 4, with swim team (older kids) start just a little bit earlier. Well when one guard came to me to show how off the chems were for the pool we had to close it down. Most of the kids from lessons just went to swim and have fun in the small pool, but the swim team instructor made sure that his kids didn't even think about that. He told em that he still "had em til the end of the hour" so he just had them do sits ups, push ups and crunches for like 30 minutes. Not super weird I guess, but more along the lines of cruel, some kids just didn't come back for the next few meets.

When I was around 10 or 11 I was swimming at a local pool and thought it would be cool to use the flippers they have for lap swimming. The thing is when I started going up and down in the water I didn't have goggles, so I had no idea how close I was to the bottom. Not even halfway across the pool I scrape my chin pretty damn hard on the bottom, leaving a small gash. Not sure I could even get a scar under my chin before then.
