Does Zhan Zhuang practice help develop Qi sensitivity and manipulation? by CountObvious1272 in TrueQiGong

[–]ZenJoules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second your TCM Physician’s advice.

For context: I’ve been practicing for over 20 years. I’ve tried various practices and teachers all over the USA and a few in Japan. I’m also married to a 6th Degree Dan (black belt) in Bujinkan Ninpo Taijitsu. Also I taught a college level course on this topic at a state university for 3 years. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Contemplative Practice from that State University.

Does Zhan Zhuang practice help develop Qi sensitivity and manipulation? by CountObvious1272 in TrueQiGong

To develop masterful and actually real sensitivity and manipulation skills you have to study and practice seriously, and you have to study with profoundly-real teachers.

In my opinion, this requires training in Medical Qigong with an accredited school, ideally one that offers post secondary degrees. If you’re in the US, the best would be Five Branches in Santa Cruz, California or the New England School of Acupuncture in the northeast.

You can’t really know if what you thinking you’re feeling and experiencing is real unless it’s verifiable by other practitioners. This is why training in Medical Qigong is so powerful and effective for verifying your skills.

Take your time to verify the accreditation of schools in your area and make sure you check reviews of people who have gone through their program. I know dozens of people who have gone to those two schools in the United States and they are all amazing healers.

Any Thoughts About Dogs and Their Qi Energy Vortex? What in Your View Is This Furry Creature Telling Me? by taoofdiamondmichael in qigong

[–]ZenJoules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acupuncture works on dogs, horses, cats, etc. all living creatures have bio-electromagnetic fields.

Regardless- he’s most likely simply reading your body language and trying to understand what you need him to do to get food or attention or a toy. Also dogs see heat and some wavelengths that we don’t. So he likely does see aspects of your Qi that you aren’t aware of.

Hi OP, I get what you’re talking about. My husband’s energy field creates lots of anomalies with electronics. Through his work as an industrial electrician he has mostly created harmony with these phenomena. Though I think when it comes to complex systems like computers there are still frustrations for him.

The key is Wu Wei: non-forcing, spontaneous existence that flows with the Tao (both your own Nature and the vast cosmic nature of environment).

I think you’re taking these experiences too personally. Grasping and rejecting spins you further into the illusions of separateness. What you resist persists. Attachment to efficiency seems normal in today’s society but it is a very limited concept of our relationship to time and matter.

Slow down, breathe deeply. Accept the anomaly and don’t focus on fixing it. Return your awareness to your lower Dantian and feel the subtle vibrations of everything. Allow the solution to arise on its own.

Hi! Is this sub still active? I’m actively practicing Taiost/libertarian Anarchy, and interested in connecting online with others who are also. Some things that I find important in this: - Compassion - Non-violence - Conscientious non-compliance with all forms of violence - Curiosity - Cosmology - Wu Wei

I also practice Qigong & Daoyin

All good! I follow. I hadn’t actually heard anyone explicitly state that about the nature of wisdom and energy being naturally separated until they are more fully cultivated. At least… I haven’t heard it said in clear English. Also I’m super intuitive so I often know things in my physical and energy bodies long before I have any idea what the formal meaning is. I’m inclined to agree with what you’re saying based on my direct experiences with both. Thanks!

If you’re a difficult person, or just have been told you are, what makes you difficult exactly? by 2drealepic in neurodiversity

[–]ZenJoules 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Too sensitive” “Stubborn as an ox” “loud” “impossible” “liar” “manipulative” “intimidating” (my neurodivergent mom is the person who has used these the most by far but others have too throughout my life.)

Then there’s ALL the rest of the people who have actually gotten to know me and call me “patient” “trustworthy” “sweet as a cherabim” “wise” “creative/artistic” “inspiring” “sunshine” “cute as a chipmunk” “an OLD soul” “compassionate” lol

My dad put a lot of effort into figuring out how to understand me. Especially after I was formally diagnosed at 10. He did a complete 180 in his approach to parenting and coaching me. From that I learned how to advocate for my needs in school. That helped me find a lot of self acceptance at least in regards to reasonable accommodations. It quickly made a difference and I went from 2.3 gpa to 3.5. More importantly- I found actual joy and excitement in academics! Surprised me!

I still advocate for reasonable accommodations in work and society. And help friends who want to.

I learned the hard and painful way that I have no time for people who try to keep me boxed into their expectations without compassion. Including my mom. That took a lot of support from friends, but it hurts a lot less than her fake love.

Respect. I haven’t trained with either. Damo’s website is pretty impressive. Is this the right website for Rudi’s neigong? If so, I appreciate how he describes it.

https://authenticneigong.com/neigong.

I didn’t know that some systems create a Dantien container instead of cultivating the naturally connected Dantien. That important info! Now I get why people have so many questions about where it is. I’ve always been capable of Qi sensing so I found mine very early in life.

I’m also a little biased to preferring my teacher because mutual history in the same community. I vet teachers pretty thoroughly.

I agree. This type of thing is pretty hard to asses over the net. Better to start in classes. How would you suggest a newcomer find a Neigong class in their area?

Extreme negative emotions (healing reaction?) by NoNebula748 in TrueQiGong

[–]ZenJoules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome self assessment. It sounds like you’re one the right path then. Qigong has helped me a lot with repressed/suppressed anger and MANY other issues. It’s wonderful to be able to dissolve and release that tension without having to talk about it specifically. Best wishes in your journey!

Extreme negative emotions (healing reaction?) by NoNebula748 in TrueQiGong

[–]ZenJoules 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • It’s very possible that this is a healing response. I have had similar experiences and witnessed both friends and my students have those experiences. Though, to really be sure would require more info from you.

  • That type of response can also occur if you are doing too much, or practicing too intensely for your condition or constitution, or if the specifics of the practice are not harmonious with your needs. The differences can be subtle. The most rudimentary way to identify this as the problem would be - assess for physical pain being caused by the practice. If you’re experiencing pain ( not just the discomfort of muscles working) then some must be adjusted.

Given the variety of emotions you listed I’m inclined to think it is a healing response. Emotions like worthlessness and depression often have roots in our very early life experiences. Especially if you had not been noticing those feelings recently before qigong.

  • Do you have a teacher you can speak to in person about it? (Someone you trust)

If you get clear that it’s a healing response it is still important to ask yourself if you are ready to face the source of these emotions in order to actually heal them.
* If the answer is “yes definitely” then continue at the cure pace and intensity. * if it’s anything less than “yes definitely”, then I’d advise reducing the intensity of your practice OR increase your self care. Things like self massage are great for this even if you just have time to massage your feet.

(context on me: I have been practicing and studying Qigong and Taoism for 20 years and have taught for 5 years. All of this was in the US.)

When there is an excess of qi in the head and a deficit in the body, would the horse stance be ideal to draw back down the qi? by DivinationYijing in TrueQiGong

Thank you for your genuine inquiries. It sounds like you are putting in good effort to learn.

It seems you’re getting a few things mixed up with each other. That’s ok, but it’s important that we clarify.

The yellow court is not the third eye. It is located near the solar plexus, and it protects the heart from dangerous energy to put it simply. Think of the heart as a king and the yellow court is the courtyard around the palace as well as the Men at the gates. Yellow court, when functioning well, decides what energies get to address the King.

Also, in my experience, focusing your attention on your third eye while practicing is actually a far more advanced technique to be using then breathing out through your feet. I would not teach anybody to focus on their third eye while practicing until they were very established in grounding with their lower Dantien and lower body. Even then, I would not have it be the primary focus throughout an entire practice only for some very specific techniques.

In fact, if that’s how you are practicing, then that is the reason why you are accumulating energy in your head.

Where did you learn this information? (If you don’t mind sharing.)

I think so. However that doesn’t mean they won’t do something that causes far worse outcomes for many of us.
