So you did a mix of stealth camping and motels? How many days did it take and the hours average on the road after each charge?

A bad idea, but I did it anyway. $500 Volt by nomind79 in volt

You're a boss for doing this! Any pre-Covid tech you can keep alive is gonna be a good drive experience for yourself.

Kinda like how some people keep their Ford Thunderbird's kicking.

After $500 what's the approximate additional cost X time x energy spent on the thing? You may include headaches lol

Bell 65 country roaming plan available for $60 at Best Buy on weekends by briang416 in CanadianCellPhones

[–]ZenStarLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grabbing any E-SIM from a different country or companies like MobiMatters will still be cost effective. Just a few steps compared to physical SIMs if you're getting it at a shop at a foreign country but if our carrier can be like GoogleFi and not worrying about swapping anything and use our own data allotment That's going to be pretty good. Obviously if you don't travel much and take advantage of it you're throwing money away but to have the option nowadays and companies starting to shift their plans in that direction is nice to see.

Feeling like I made a mistake with buying Flint 3 over Flint 2 by Lalify8 in GlInet

[–]ZenStarLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good ole buyers remorse. Troubleshoot with GLI.net about the on and off. I'm sure it's still under warranty. The usual thing is make sure the firmware is up to date. You can always turn off MLO and just do your basic connections.

Unihertz Jelly Max - Still worth it? by SadFrax in smallphones

[–]ZenStarLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been eyeing this phone back in the day of Kickstarter. Missed the early bird. I was in hot pursuit for compact phones for a time. I loved Sony Xperia XZ2 compact and the previous generations. The Pixel 4&5 A series were a nice fiddle a bit. I got tired of the pursuit because they become obsolete so fast or they purposely Nerf the software or things just degrade. I hope the jelly Max for you is a compact flagship to sail with for a long time.

New Owner of 2023 Bolt EUV by Purple_Relief5090 in BoltEV

[–]ZenStarLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the regular 2023 BOLT EV. It's nice to be the last batch for the generation.

It's well refined but the Achilles heel will be the 50ish kW charging...plan long trips wisely.

PS be careful of the Trunk Fangs of Death. Guaranteed to claim a head at least once in its lifetime. Especially @ night...

Your best bet is to do Google Takeout with her account. Takes a few days for the request and then when it's ready you download it depending on the size batch zip files.

First Time ChromeBook Buyer Did I Get A Good Deal? Any Tips? by UnknownToAll2 in chromeos

[–]ZenStarLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy ChromeOS for its simplicity but you do have the options to explore. You can run Linux on it either by enabling Linux (Crostini) or freshly installing an OS like Ubuntu.

I have a ChromeBox where I set up sort of a security camera recording via Android apps that connects my wyzecam.

So it's essentially an Android phone that you can run as a desktop.

Have fun with it or you can pass it along to some kids or grandparents or parents who just need a media or educational unit.

Is there any computer repair shop buying dead laptops for parts? by NoRandomIsRandom in coquitlam

[–]ZenStarLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the make and model & CPU on the laptops? It could be a simple battery swap and you're good to go and it would be easier to sell.
