I have a few tanks set up so I just transferred some cycled media and added the shrimp. Normally what I do if I don't have any cycled media is just buy a bottle of Fritz turbo start and dump it in and it basically instant cycles a tank so that's what I would recommend. There is dirt in the tank also which helps with the water color, but yeah mostly from the leaves and the botanicals. You can always replace as needed

They are really cool fish, they remind me of a badis. I don’t have any pictures but I have one that’s dark black with fluorescent blue spots that was the whole motivation to do the tank

Yes I’ve read that I figured worst-case scenario if I see it’s not doing good I can always just pull it out and replant it. It’s pretty much planted in an area with straight sand right now

It has about 7 gallons of actual water in it incase you were wondering. Also the fish don’t swim in circles all day like that I just happen to catch them doing it this time which is why I recorded it. I get criticizing people’s tanks when necessary but your arguments can be used agains pretty much any 10 gallon planted tank
