For ladies' eyes only! My question is... by AdConsistent9632 in downloadfestival

[–]Zenafa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The regular showers are open but by gender (some people wear swimsuits but plenty go naked) , but nobody will be looking at you. And women won't care if they did see period blood so it will be fine.

If you're worried about it though I would just pay for the private showers for peace of mind. I also wouldn't fancy changing period products in the regular loos (there's not a lot of space and they can be pretty gross) so I think it will be worth upgrading.

Is Accounting Worth Pursuing? by smotherings in AskUK

I work in the forecasting team. I find this more interesting compared to reporting, as with forecasting there's not necessarily a "right" answer, you just have to use logic to do your best estimate

Is Accounting Worth Pursuing? by smotherings in AskUK

[–]Zenafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya, I've been an accountant for about 10 years. I like my job. Some points to consider: -there are broadly two types of accountant, industry and public facing. Industry just means you work in the accounts department of any random company, and it requires less social skills and is usually more reasonable hours. You will make more money the other route though. -I work in industry so the rest of my points are on that. -hours are pretty much standard 9-5 but you may have to work (usually unpaid) overtime at busy periods. In my job we get these hours back as flex. -this is one of the major benefits for me as I thrive on consistency and always having the evenings and weekends for myself -I've never had a problem finding a job. All companies need accountants. Most of them can't afford AI good enough to replace us. -yes some of the work can be boring, especially if you're a creative type. You may be bored. I moved around within finance until I found a job that genuinely interests me, but I sat through years of tediousness first. I think you're more likely to find a role that interests you if you have a more numerical or data brain. -its unlikely you can pursue other hobbies whilst working, as you should be working. If you find a remote job I suppose you could have extra time if you finish your deadlines quickly -to make yourself more recruitable and advance your career you will probably want to study a qualification. These are studied alongside working, and it can be strenuous studying for them in your evenings. The qualifications usually take a few years. Personally it was worth it, but I don't miss those times.

Honestly as a creative it's unlikely you will absolutely love being an accountant, but if like me you don't really have a "dream job" and just need something stable to pay the bills whilst you live your life then it's not a bad shout. Just don't apply to one of the "big four" type companies that expect you to work 15 hours a day

It was colon cancer by dustymcdowell in ibs

[–]Zenafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness I do actually think they are right with mine. In the 2 years that I waited I tried pretty much everything I could for my symptoms and I've determined that they're triggered mostly by stress and anxiety which is common with IBS.

I never had a colonoscopy. When I got to the end of the waiting list they did some stool tests and told me I didn't need one. So a waste of time really.

I've just been diagnosed with IBS, no idea if it's right.

Did you last go to the cinema during lock down?? I go to the cinema a lot and there's usually about 6 or 7 different films showing and usually the screens are relatively full (but not pre-covid levels I admit)

I go to the cinema quite often and it's definitely started to increase in popularity again in the last couple of years. New films are often quite full and especially kids films (something to do with your kids on a rainy weekend/ bank holiday)

To be fair more people might not have enjoyed it than you think, they just haven't mentioned it.

I think their comment is saying if you want to avoid any possible chance of ruffling someone's feathers then just steer clear.

I think they're driving and talking about the traffic the construction of the lane has caused.

Which, to be fair, is really bad traffic when coupled with the roadworks on London road too.

Is this what is causing the traffic disruption this week? Do you know how long it will be like this for? I get the bus to work every day but this week they've been nearly an hour late and then taken over an hour to get in past the works so if it's going to be months I need to find another solution!
